Look at this amazing gallery of the Schlumpf brothers museum in the east of France : http://www.*************/Gallery?cmd=viewGallery&uID=119513&gID=417&pgID=1 This is the only place in the world when you can see so many Buggatis - most of them are unique coachs, including the two "Royale". Ferrari, Maserati, Talbot, Gordini, etc... are also part of the collection.
Absolutely! I was also surprised to find that Sir Anthony Bamford had not been mentioned. Another surprising omission (IMO) is Sir Paul Vestey. He has some fantastic, significant Ferraris.
Does anyone know the story behind the Jaguar XK180 at the Marconi Museum? I noticed its a left hand drive and I thought Jaguar only made the one concept in right hand drive. I see Marconi has a Cizeta in the collection. I thought Cizetas weren't sold in the states.

Although his collection only has two f-cars it should be noted that Dr. Simeone has one of the most extensive collections of early race cars in the US if not the world. Erik

I dunno what he did with them all and he sold them mid 90's (well most of them) So yeah possibly the worlds best privately owned car collection.
No one in the U.S. ever ordered a Cizeta. However, the Cizeta at the Marconi is a bastardized car. It was converted by a well known design firm to use a Ferrari 512TR powerplant, transmission, and gauges. What happened to the Cizeta V16 and transmission, no one knows.
If you are in to classic and sports cars, this is absolutely the best museum in the world. Worth the trip to Mulhouse.
1967 275 GTB/4 #9783 My first Ferrari, I sold it to him in '85. We negotiated all weekend of a couple thousand bucks. Money for me, the principle for him (I believe). It was a very simple transaction, the contract on the back of a business card. - George I sold my other Ferrari to Mr. Obrist who had one of the better collections as well.
The brazilian Carlos Monteverde, who lives in London, is also making a collection of classic Ferraris and he's already owner of some great classic Ferraris race cars such as: 1964 250 LM, 1955 750 Monza, 512S, 250 TR, 250 GTO SWB. He also owner of Escuderia Lagartixa and takes part in classic festivals all over the world with his cars. Last year in Oporto Revival Festival he crashed the 250 GTO SWB, that is estimated to value 10million USdollars. In the crash he also break his leg. He is a gentleman driver, that really enjoys his cars. http://www.maranello.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/0738TR.250TR.htm
Very true. However, it was not his GTO but his 250LM. Still a great loss Image Unavailable, Please Login
I saw footage of Goodwood a couple years back where Carlos semi-destroyed a 206 SP (same color) and kept racing. That was when I concluded I did not really want to race across the pond. I'm a lightweight and I like my car the way it is. - George
Sorry for my mistake. Is like you said. Althoug I think that the GTO SWB also suffered some damages in the hand of the professional driver from Carlos's Scuderia. But i'm not sure. It's in fact a great loss, but I think that the car is already fixed. And the zone where he crashed was not a easy one. It was on the entrance of the roundbout on the bottom of Boavista Av., sorounded by concret barriers(?). He crashed the car against the wall at the middle of the turn. It was a zone where the cars had a massive transfer of wheight. But even with the leg broken and the car crashed he never lost the sense of humor. A real gentleman, with a great atitude. As I have said, he really enjoys competing with those cars. Sorry for my bad english, I think I have made some mistakes...
I have some more photos of the cars and the crash of Carlos Monteverde, but I can't upload them. Just could upload a single one. I'll try to post the others later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
He does have an excellent collection. Amazing how he races them all as they should be. These car belong on the track. But at the same time it's hard seeing pictures as the one I have posted.
Carlos Monteverde doesnt own a 512S . From memory he has a 206 SP, Daytona Comp ( Carrefour Livery ) , SWB , 250 LM and 250 TR. HE had the 712S but sold it.
Sir Anthony Bamford recently sold his orginal Aston Martin DB5, 1 of 3 James Bond cars for 2.1$ mil. US http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4633986.stm Any updates on his F collection?? He has one of the best in the world... I know he was buying Jaguar from Ford, but it didn't go thru....
