Big Tex, do you know what happened to this collection? it was huge, and not just Ferrari's.... I seem to recall he ordered a TR in every exterior color, true?
Unlike John O'Quinn, Jerry had heirs, they were chomping at the bit to cash out the Collection... I guess that's ONE way to have a lot of company around your death bed. I didn't follow the mechanics of it all......I had a dear old woman briefly as a secretary once, who was an old family friend of his, told some amazing tales..he came up from very humble circumstance.
Medlin: We saw the (car formerly known as a P4) break cover last year. Discussion here concluded it was now a Ferrari '350 Can Am', and it would take a GAZILLION dollars at Classiche to fix it! LOL! It didn't even have headlights anymore!! He still has a lot of good VIN numbers though...the condition of the cars is another matter. We had a chatter that was going down to check it out, but like a Jerry Reed song, he was "never heard from again"!!!! ..and what about Basal Shadlun? His niece or some family member found this thread once, and "checked in"......
Mr Thulin had a few nice cars. If you search for him on barchetta.cc you'll see his name after quite a few cars. He made a high bid for a 250 GTO at an auction but failed to pay for the car. He also owned a Bugatti Royal that was displayed at Consolidators head offices in central Stockholm. There als was a Maser 300 racing car at some time. In 1991 there was a story in R&T about a large collection in Florida. SOme guy named Walter Medlin... Is perhaps mentioned, have not read all posts
One of the foremost Ferrari collectors, Bob Donner has passed away. He was a regular entrant in The Colorado Grand, usually driving the Harrah Ferrari targa or his GTO. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM January 22nd at Shove Chapel on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs. Paul
I have many arabic friends and some relatives so I hear things that really made my jaw drop to the floor. We have gotten used to hearing about big $$$ extravagant things in the middle east but not in u.s. soil.
Most of the collection was sold almost a year ago. A few cars remain with the family. When asked about another famous Huston collector... he was quoted as saying "He did it his way, and we did it our way."
The bulk of the car collection was sold off a very long time ago. I don't know what was kept from it, but it wasn't much. Keep in mind the real estate world pretty much went in the toilet in the late 80's. Moore's son has built his own collection on his own that includes some very nice stuff. He has a dealership here in Houston that specializes in vintage/exotic cars.
Believe me... they won't advertise, nor will they let anyone else... VERY close mouthed and tight-lipped about everything that's in their collections... But, I'll see what I can do... Mike
and what happened to the website ferrarihistory..........collection seems to be down Am based in SA, but a knew of a guy in Zimbabwe who owned 2 Daytona'a a 330, a dino a 250GTE and a 166 and he says there were more in Zim with another collector. He also had a DB2/4 a few e-type one or two Lambos and a few Massers. In SA, I believe the CEO of a media company has an extensive collection and if you google L'Omarans wine farm and Franscheok car museum you will see other collections in SA The Ferrari club here is well established and has bosted some of the largest track day turnouts. Have seen a 166 in regular use on the road and I believe the owner has a bugatti and Alfa of similar age. Anyone from Africa on here know of more cars other than the fake 250 SWB that is always on the track?
