Thank you for the link; that is an interesting story I was not aware of! Always great fun to get a peek behind the curtain especially with someone very knowledgeable like Graham Hull sharing those tasty details...

i dunno about the wire wheels, but that shape was always a winner.
my dad bought one, in between his series of mercedes s class', kept it for 6 months and could not sell it fast enough - everything went wrong or blew up.

picked up the karma from fort worth yesterday (after an extended service), and had to take on fuel twice on the way home to houston, and both times was stopped by people at the gas station to ask about the car, take pics, and get some explanation about what the hell it is !

Many years ago in a taxi going leaving the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, noticed the following in the window of a Mk II: 'Anything falling from this vehicle is of the finest English manufacture'

    Fortunately, no longer true.

tank was empty when i picked it up. put about 8.5 gallons into the 9.5 gallon tank.
drove 200miles in sport mode, at about 85-90mph, then had to fill up again.
the total miles is about 280 from FK to my house.

Hot, yes, but in a brutal, R-R Phantom VII-style, sort of way, not beautiful IMO.

I never imagined they could make those work, but I think they have. I've seen the same car, unmodified with those or similar wheels and it looks terrible as you would expect. The bodywork alterations and ride height adjustments are all very subtle and i think they are expertly done because somehow these wheels work.

I'm sure you know the reasons why, when I can only see it. Given who this car is built for I think they are the right choice as in the exception that proves the rule. The alterations to the badges are very artful too. I think this car is great, and it seems to be the general consensus even with those wheels.

I don't question your admiration of a very cool car. The wires just throw me off.

Here is the badge they designed for Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden for the XJ. I think this car can pull of being a bit wild because of who the customer was.
