Most God Awful Smell Ever- a Whale Tale

Just finished cleaning out a couple litter boxes after feeding my cats nothing but canned food for days since I ran out of dry (have been sick all week & couldn’t get to the store). Cat poop can be quite foul especially on a sick stomach. However when thinking back the most disgusting thing I’ve ever smelled has to be a beached whale carcass after it baked in the summer sun for a few weeks. My group was tasked to de flesh it & bring back the bones for a museum exhibit. We could follow the smell from at least a mile off shore. The skin & tissue had gone black & bubbled up w/ holes all in it. Never will forget one of the scientists saying “watch this” as he turned over the skull & the liquid brains poured out onto the sand. A grad student was retching the whole time but never quit stripping. Naturally while loading the bones onto our boats, the whale oil floated on the water and coated our legs. Once back to dock most of us bathed in pure Clorox. I still have the Kodachrome slides. What tops your chart for nastiest smells?
