I am looking to attend a watchmaking school to greater my knowledge on the functionality of watches as well as the process of creating watches. I'm assuming the "better" schools are found in Switzerland and other parts of Europe. Can anyone point me to the "best" watchmaking schools in the world?

The Hayek School is also in the US.

I would note that these schools are not for recreational hobbyists. They are for professionals and require a significant commitment.

If you are looking to change careers, go for it!

WOSTEP in Switzerland is where all the best watchmakers I have dealt with attended. It appears they have an affiliate school in Dallas. There are several schools out there now but it seems that WOSTEP is still the gold standard.

Nicolas G. Hayek has a school in Glashutte, Germany. They work directly with Glashutte movements but speaking German is a requirement... I just purchased Rosetta Stone. Does anyone oblige to this idea?

I don't know anybody that has graduated from that school but of course Swatch has tremendous resources so I'd imagine they have a good program.
