Black 456M. No shields, silver center caps. I have 2 people offer to “buy it off me” whilst driving in LA this year haha. Funny thing is, it is always 100% the hip kids around 20-25 years old (mostly what is around the Fairfax district) are the most impressed by far. They go out of their way to tell me they know what it is. It is cool. I was once stopped at a light and a very nice old Black lady politely asked me to roll down my window to ask what kind of car it was. I just said it was a “456” - she repeated “4…5…6, wow” and just smiled and slowly looked over the car and drove off. It is a good memory. That California up there is absolutely the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
456 is a good recommendation, because it is conservatively styled. California as well, but maintenance on an out-of-warranty California … The other option is a Porsche 911, non-GT version, in a dark color. All the performance, but under the radar except among car enthusiasts. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thank you. As I said, enthusiasts know regardless of how much your try to stealth-ify it. Love your 456. There's two black 456s around here. One with and one without shields. And a white 456, don't recall if it has shields. 456 is a great design that is aging very well, and looks great in a lot of colors. T
this thread makes me miss my old car.... (and my former life) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
365/400/412 456 Have you considered also the Maserati Later generation GranTurismo \ Gen 5.5 QP? I argue those are very much pseudo-Ferrari. Given both were created during the time Maserati was 100% in Ferrari's control. I mean if the California controversy says anything, it's like Lexus/Toyota Cadillac/Chevrolet Audi/VW sort of thing.
I'm with Paul on the maserati gt recommendation and call it a day. You did say reliable DD, correct? Gran turismo much more reliable than the aforementioned ferraris
I am really digging that green FF also, but looks a hint too much metallic, or non-solid to be BRG to me...
Calis with no shields are rarer than hen's teeth. You can also cover them up, so you or the next owner has the option to easily reverse. I had my shields covered in PPF, then painted, then the avorio colored covered shields re-installed. It's not perfect - of course - compared to a smooth, shieldless fender, but it's good enough to slow down beginning and intermediate F spotters! T
Well, the 456 design is a retro-modern take on the Daytona, so it actually screams Ferrari in the "right" colors. Image Unavailable, Please Login Plus, they are old and require lots of money to sort to perfection. Spent $30K to make that car perfect ten years ago. I would not get another 456, thanks. Just too long in the tooth now. Even a 612 can be stunning if you want the traditional Rosso Corsa (I don't like timid colors, myself). Image Unavailable, Please Login But if I HAD to get a stealth Ferrari, I'd get a V8 Lusso T (Less problems than with the AWD system). Image Unavailable, Please Login There's nothing you can do to an FF or Lusso to make it look like a Ferrari! I've seen a few without shields, but they are very uncommon. I'd actually like one, but I'd want a non RC red. Saw one without shields in that orangy red that was the best I've ever seen. It was an FF though. I'd rather have a Lusso T.
In my estimation, the FF is an abomination , who exactly is manning the ship over at the Ferrari design department ? lol Maybe an intervention is called for ? lol . Thank you
That's a Ford probe! You know, how a Daytona is a Corvette, a Mondial is a Toyota MR2, and a 412 is a Honda Prelude. Many folks believe Ferrari either has a crystal ball or a time machine.
Naw, I can say without a doubt, that my 456M gets way less attention than my Mondial t. Owned both for years... A lot has changed in the last 5 years, a Mondial just sold for $100k last week at Ft. Lauderdale RM Sotheby's auction.
I fully respect your opinion. Your eye is just as valid as anyone! I would generally agree about design failure only if every model followed a hatchback design. Different strokes models for different folks requirements. I would hate to bring an F12 into the snowy mountains for a ski trip. FF? Heaven. …and the hatchback design can’t be gone away from, well because physics. 4 people and luggage and all…
