Any 5.2 owners who have swapped out for a Motec? Wondering if files are available?
I'm dubious this alone will get you much if any power gain. It's not like the 355 is a single throttle intake and you need Motec to allow ITB's. 355's already have ITB's. So all you can do is fine-tune the AFR's and ignition timing. This assumes the 355 needs it. From everything I've read (albeit not much) the 355 is pretty well set up from the factory and there isn't much of anything left on the table.
Ive put a motec in My exige v6 cup car. There are lots of considerations to make. Does your car ABS need the stock computer to interface with, same with traction and any yaw control, or are they completely separate modules. Assuming thats not an issue, then yes the motec gathers tons of data from the O2 sensors, intake temps etc, and its running the motor in real time especially at full throttle where most computer systems are actually just defaulting to a map. maybe Hp does not take a leap, but drivability and throttle response, reaction can sharpen markedly. Also cars tuned from factories emissions tend to have flat spots etc. Its amazing how on some cars when fueling and timing are optimized how significant the performance gain is, even when the headline "peak power" numbers dont change much. Thats the key, its gaining tq and hp all over the place as opposed to increasing peaks. How optimized is a 355 already. I found the best way to tune with motec was to start on a dyno, then tune further with road and track which are both very different conditions to a dyno. The motec stores so much data you can literally drive the car for 30 mins and then look at the datta adjust from there. However you look at this though, its a science experiment. On a 355 if I were going to loose the cats and run good headers seems like there are probably gains to be made, thats assuming the abs etc wont freak out..
It would be really interesting to see what kind of power a Motec (or any good aftermarket ECU) setup would make on a 355. These ECU's can drive coil on plug ignitions. Get rid of the cats, add COP, and livemap it on a dyno. I could imagine that making some modest but nice gains, especially in driveability. And it sure would be nice to knock 200 rpm's off the idle speed. Problem is, it would cost a small fortune.
