this season has left a new champion
the days of Valentino dominance have gone ...

I recall when THE DOCTOR used to say:

"RACES ARE WON BY PILOTS NOT BY MOTORCYCLES ..." no matter what bike, It's the rider who makes the bike; and stuff like that...

allegedly because his detractors used to claim those first Honda RC211V would win races by themselves ...regardless of whoever was the rider ....

and now a few years later ;the same VALENTINO tries to mis-credit Casey Stoner by saying he's riding ON the best TIRES !!!

you guys think a TIRE can make THAT much difference ...enough to win a world title ?

I'd like to read natural enthusiast respones, not the type of answer a journalist would elaborate ...

I'm having a hard time trying to believe BRIDGESTONE re-invented the motorcycle tire ...

Just look at F1 a couple of years ago, Bridgestone tires were absolute crap, they were off by a second a lap.

In a series like F1 and any other top series, tires are reinvented every season.

That Ducati in general this year just seemed a step above the competitors for the majority of the season from my perspective. Down the straights specifically I remember it having a clear edge, although that gap seemed to be clawed back a bit by the other bikes towards the end of the season.

I follow the series and watch every race, but unfortunately I don't know enough back story or details about each bike the way I would for say F1.

I used to be a huge Rossi fan, admittedly while he was on his streak, but after seeing him lose the title twice now, it's quite apparent he has a massive ego and is a bit of a sore loser. I suppose that sometimes accompanies massive talent, but he's losing a bit of favor with me personally.

Apologies, what were we talking about again? Tires?

    yep.

tires can make a HUGE difference.

Switching from Michelin to Pirelli took over a second a lap off my times... and I suck monkey butt racing motorcycles.

The trick is, you have to ride with the set up (chassis, engine, suspension, tires...) you are given (the tweaking goes on and on...). Sometimes it all comes together and fits your riding style, sometimes it doesnt. The GREATS can ride around a ill-fitting set up and still win, but sometimes even the GREATS cant overcome a set-up that truly doesnt work for them. What makes someone GREAT? Winning in different classes on different brands with different set ups on different kinds of tracks, and even on different KINDS of bikes (two stroke vs. four stroke). Find someone that has that on their resume and you have found a GREAT one.

Are you refering to THE DOCTOR ?
    if he's that GREAT
how come he's complaining about TIRES now

when he used to bragg about switching bikes in tha last minute
when he was sourrounded by losers such as BIAGGI or GIBERNAU
...now that he has to deal with a NEW generation of riders

he has changed his speech and tries to sell excuses all the time.

    * OK tires can make a HUGE difference, does that mean that Casey Stoner is a lucky guy given magic rubber which is capable of winning races by itself?

you think STONER enjoyed beginner's luck , hence next year he'll be just another rider ?
