Another great race. There's no doubt in my mind that if the race would have remained dry, Rossi would have destroyed everyone. I just love when Rossi makes a poor start, and has to work his way up. A absolute master at his craft. This is the first time I have ever seen a race go wet mid-race, where everyone comes into the pits and hops onto a wet-tire bike. What I don't understand is how Rossi fell so far back after having made the switch. Did the riders that were in front of him stay out, and not switch bikes? Once Rossi got into his groove, he was moving up nicely, unfortunately he ran out of laps. He would have caught Milandri if there were another 10 laps. The last-lap pass to get into third was sweet, gave him those extra valueable points. I do give credit to Hayden for getting as high up as he did, because he looked like he was completely out of it early on. 3 races left to go. This is coming down to the wire. Unfortunately Pedrosa has pretty much taken himself out of the equation with his poor finishing position. No matter - the kid has a brilliant future with many Championships to come. What do you guys think? Will Hayden hold on, or will Rossi win it?
I think Hayden will hold on and take the championship. <crosses fingers> My friend said that the Bridgestone tires are better in the wet than the Michelins which could be why Rossi lost some ground after he switched bikes. Once he came to terms with the grip levels he was able to pull himself back up. I agree that pass at the end to rob Gibernau of the podium spot was classic Rossi perfection. >8^) ER
No, no! I was there too, seating on the edge of my seat and bitting my nails!! I must say, though, that I can't get round that new rule that allows people to switch bikes when it starts raining. I'm not for or against it; it just looks weird to me! Having say that, what a good race it was. These boys are incredible. Rossi is gnawing away at Hayden's point advantage, and that it a fantastic come-back after a poor season start. Should be close at the end.
Just watched it today. Phillip IS. is always a good one. The weather is totally unpredictable. I do hope that Nicky can hold on to it for the remaining races. Pretty down to earth kid. Hasn't let the GP's go to his head. Darrell.
I was there!!! It was my 1st MotoGP @ PI!! I would say 90% were Rossi fans, 9% were Stoner fans 0.99999% were other fans and 0.00001% were Hayden fans. Was a great race and everyone on the track was happy about the result(ie: Hayden didnt win ) I hope Rossi can win this title its going to be close. Here are afew pics of the day. http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/img_3987_std.jpg In the morning we drove from Melb(about 1.5-2hr drive) there was alot of fog and sadly we saw a rider on the side of the road that didnt make it, he was covered up but still we saw his bloodied arm This was one of the carparks outside, I have never seen so many bikes in one spot and there was about the same amount parked inside the track. http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/img_3992_std.jpg http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/img_3993_std.jpg Some Suzukis models http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/suzuki.jpg http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/suzuki2.jpg Finally the podium http://www.coresworld.net/MotoGP06/podium.jpg
