Anyone got information on MotorCars Int'l in Springfield MO? I'm looking for a 355 GTB and they advertised a blk/blk today.

If anyone lives in the neighborhood and has the time to drop bye, I'd appreciate some feedback on this car.

Well if Steve Will was still there you could just say send it to me, his word is gold, he is on the board so maybe he will see this and reply. If you have not called them yet ask for Randy Matison, there will not be an issue. Best of Luck.

The folks at MCI are fantastic. I have bought many cars from them and all were as promised and then some. They have a great reputation and stand behind what they sell. I would not hesitate to purchase from them.

I have had dealings there as well. My father also bought a F355 from them and they were great to deal with. Ask for Randy Matison. I would recommend MCI to anyone.

Top notch dealership! I would have no problem buying 'sight unseen' from them. They have my future business!

Yes but I can't tell you how many cars I've seen that looked great in the photos and disappointed in person. That's why I was hoping to get some objective local eyes on the car before I went any further.

Also, I've emailed twice for some information and so far no response...

If the car is not damn near perfect, MotorCars will wholesale it. They only retail the finest--if the car is on their lot, it"s nice--one of the clear advantages of buying from a REPUTABLE dealer. Forget the email and call and ask for Randy--he will answer your questions. I will PM you his cell number. In the meantime, if I get out to Springfield soon, I will gladly look the car over for you. Good luck,
    Vivek

My first car buying experience with them was great. I have heard many good things about them. HOWEVER, DO NOT TRUST THEM. They are just as much of a used car dealer as any. My second (and last) car I purchased from them was the single most worst purchase I have made and will ever make. They cost me $15,000. And...they used lies to cover up their other lies. I am not saying do not buy from them....I am just saying COVER ALL OF YOUR BASES. I will NEVER buy there again!

Although I have not purchased from them I have shopped there and personally observed cars that they had listed online. They are all top notch. I would trust them. They may be a little more expensive but then again I saw all of the extra things they do to make sure the car is right and in awesome shape when you get it. I would have bought from them but I found my car in the color I wanted in Florida. Don't hesitate, they are good people.

I only see one guy/gal who wouldn't give his/her name and wouldn't even pay to subscribe to Fchat complain so far. The bad rap although possible, doesn't seem credible. If your unsure pay for a prepurchase exam. (A good idea anyway) I'm sure MCI wouldn't flinch at letting you have the car examined. Just go for it!

I ran the routine carfax on the vehicle I am interested in and it listed a police/accident report in August of 2005.

I have sent them 2 emails and posted in FerrariAds.com asking for the details of the damage/repairs and so far no one has responded, despite all the high praise from Fchat members.

Either A) they didn't do their homework before they bought the car or B) they knew upfront they were buying a car that had been in an accident and chose not to disclose that information in their ads or on their website hoping someone would buy the car without investigating it's history - and if that's true, what else do they not disclose (with this or any other car)?

Either way they should respond to my inquiries and the fact they don't makes me suspicious.

What does not being a "real member" and my identity have to do with anything? I did have TWO inspections on my car. They handled both and lied about them. Why would I be motivated to come on here and talk bad about them if I did not have a reason?

This is EXACTLY what happened to me. They ran a carfax and said it was clean. Then they did 2 inspections and said it was clean...and that they are very picky. I trusted them because of their "reputation" with my previous purchase. Well, I later did a carfax and there was an accident report. I confronted them (Randy McCall) about it and he said he "is a man of his faith and would never tell a lie". He said they did an AutoCheck report and that was clear, so they assumed everything was clean (Even though they told me they did a carfax originally). Right after I was told they did a clean AutoCheck, I ran one, and it came back dirty as well.

I tried to trade it back in with them less than a thousand miles later, with them knowing they were caught. I did not even try to return it. I just wanted a fair deal considering what they did. They offered me $30k less than I had bought it for used a couple months earlier. Wow. They screwed me. They lied. They wouldn't even TRY to make things better. Anytime I EVER hear about them again, I will let people know my story. It sounds like they are wanting to do the same to you. They are probably hoping someone will buy a wrecked car with out asking or looking. Nice.

Have you actually tried picking up the phone and calling them? That might be the best way to cut through all this.

I only invest in a phone call once all the preliminary questions have been answered. Besides...I like to see things in writing...minimizes misunderstandings.

I'll say it again, I have no affiliation with MCI other than the fact that they have provided me with top notch service. Reading through this thread as well as others, it seems that many people share my opinion. It's common knowledge that when people get good service they expect it (which they should) and go on with their lives--but when people feel they have received bad service they want the whole world to listen to their sob story. This provides a negative bias in a dealerships' reputation--despite this bias, MCI has maintained an overall excellent reputation.
If a late model 6 speed 355 in black is what you're after, I think it would be silly to not personally talk to someone at MCI about the car as these vehicles are just hard to come by. I'm sure they will provide you with whatever documentation you need "in writing" thereafter. But if you can't take the time to "invest" in a phone call prior to getting your preliminary questions answered via email, why would you expect someone here to take the time to go over and inspect the car for you?
    Good luck in your search,
    Vivek

    V,

I have bought several cars from Motorcars, even sold them a Porsche I had. Every time they exceeded my expectations. I would buy anything they had sight unseen because I know they would stand behind it.

I do not know what the true story is here, but there is more to this than this guy is saying...

I know you cannot make everyone happy all of the time and it is possible that a carfax report could come up after a dealer had bought a car, but
lets get real, a carfax does not mean that a car has had damage or that if damage occured, that it hurt the car. There has been multiple posts on here of Carfax reports that were wrong.

I have no affiliation with Motorcars either, other than being a customer, my experiences have been excellent and I would reccomend them to anyone.

    Chris

If I were in Springfield I'd look at it for you and stop by Bass Pro and Buckinghams BBQ as well.

Just rambling ..I bought a GMC 2500 with a "clean" Carfax report, when I got to the point of signing the title over from the dealer it had a branded title it was considered a "dealer buy back" a.k.a. "lemon". Car fax never even disclosed this. I have not had problem one with the issue it was bought back for. ( I actually believe the original owner complained so they could have it bought back and buy a new one, this is when GMC changed body styles and engine options/ or he couldn't afford his payments and got them to buy it back). I have the MO title now and it is not branded and its just as clean as it was day one. The truck has been reliable and probably more so than a new one.

I have also looked at cars that I know were involved in an accident and it was not documented on a Carfax. On the flip side just because a car is documented as having been in an accident (based upon police report data and some dealer records) does not mean the car is "tarnished" or a totally bad car. Far be it for me to stick up for used car dealers (I have had my bad experiences), but alot of dealers get cars in and they don't really know the cars full history...ex. I was looking at a Toyota 4runner once it had blood stain residue and bone fragments in the carpet and some repaired bullet damage. I asked they guy who died/was shot in the car. He had no clue what the hell I was talking about. After about a 20 minute crash CSI type learning session he pulled the car off his lot. I thought he was gonna hurl right there when I pointed the stuff out. He actually didn't know, and was probably on the phone to his source as soon as I left.

Take the time to call out there and schedule a PPI using your own hand picked PPI service or speak to the mechanic who worked on the car prior. Spend a few bucks and let the PPI inspector do their job and give you some barganing chips. You probably wouldn't buy a house with out an inspection, so why buy a Ferrari without one. Is there info on the carfax about who serviced this car before or what dealer fixed the accident damage? Call them, bet they would remember it and talk to you on the phone.

In todays techno world of email etc, all of us are away from personal human to human contact. Anymore, when it comes to my emails, I always say if its "really" important they will call me and speak to me directly.

I'm sure the bonedoc was not happy with his or her experience. He/She said so. They must be doing something right, they are higher priced than most (for good reason) and are still in business and move alot of cars. IMOHO, I would buy from them, no problems. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Yes it is the "show-me" state. Come on out you might like it here and decide to stay.
