My 2001 260 Spider needs 2 new motor mounts. They are very easy to get to and look extremely easy to change. I am going to let my local mechanic replace these. He is not a Ferrari expert, but usually very good with European Cars. Is there any specific thing anyone may think of that I would need to know? Looks like once you unbolt the motor mounts, nothing else has to be removed. Does the engine have to be jacked up a certain way? Can you do both at the same time and jack up the entire motor at one time, or do you do one side at a time and jack up the motor 2 times, (once for each side)? Does anything else have to be unbolted before the motor is raised? Do you run a risk of breaking or cracking somthing when you lift the motor?? Any help or tips would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance.

dont jack the engine more than 20-25 mm or you will have to disconnect the main water pipes on the front of the motor which makes the job more labor intensive and quite messy ....

How do you know your mount is shot? Can you feel it or hear funny noise?

I could feel something moving in the rear of the car. We put it on a lift and unbolted the mounts and you could see the rubber split/torn in the center of both of them. They make a new and improved version, which I have already bought from Ricambi. Actually you can only feel it while backing up or starting off and turning left or right.

The fun one is the tranny mount. Its probably the source of the vibration also. I changed my 2 engine mounts first and still had slight vibration. Changed the rear trans mount and it is like new again. It is a pain to change.

Well the good thing is that the trans mount has been changed already!
