Will a 412 motor interchange with a 400i? I have been offerd a 1986 412 and need to know the interchangeability. Yesterday Candy and I were in Africa and today Malta working our way back to Rome and then home. From the factory visit until today it has been some adventure.

I would think it is a straight swap - I've never read anything over the years that would lead me to believe that it wouldn't fit/work.

I agree, it should be a straight swap. Back in '98, when I was looking for my 400i, I looked at a 400i in Reno, Nevada that had a 412 block installed as the core engine after something ruined the original block.

Ignition system is completely different so the electronic packages need to be swapped over. All harnesses ECUs etc. The 400 ignition is not easily adaptable to the 412 motor without major surgery.

Well the real estate is expensive. My wife looked at a small ocean view villa today and for about 2 acres and a 2 story 5 bedroom mediteranian style stucco was 500,000 euros about $750,00 US. She decided against buying on impulse, thank god...............
