hi guys, i'm going for my motorbike learners on thursday, and was wondering if any of you knew where i can find stats on the amount or ratio of bike crashes compared to cars. And the number of deaths and such.

im buying a hyosung gt250r in the next few weeks and want to be prepared. and dont worry i will have plenty of protective gear.

    Thanks, Nick

Is that the company that makes the cheap bikes with the styling of a ducatti in mind? and they have little 250cc engines in them?

Best of luck with your license anyway:)

I think you will find biggest crash segment is the older (40's typically) guys with existing licences which get automatically renewed (like mine), been "off" bikes for a while due to business and family etc and now after a long absence open the cheque book and get the latest and not invest in track time to get back up to speed with the latest missiles thinking they've got all the skill they need using memories from a decade ago..

well, the good news is most bike riders only have one accident. well, that's kinda the bad news too.

stats won't help you anymore than knowing that statistcally one in 6 times you roll the dice you roll a 3. each time you take off from the lights or lean into a corner you're throwing the dice again.

In article saw in recent months showing graph by age group from govt stats.

Don't have a link but just noted & remebered it especially since I fell right in the demographic at the same time I was doing something about it as per http://www.easterncreekridedays.com.au/

Be 6 times more alert on the road when riding . Get your licence and Go to cornering school at Eastern Creek. Get used to your bike.
Keep out of blind spots in traffic. Leave space between you and cars.
Statistics won't keep you alive your extra care will . Enjoy safely.

Well take care.. no point in rushing to make yourself go out with a bang prematurely. Go do a track day and riding course or 3!
