Anyone know what is going on downtown? Rather large motorcade left the 4 Seasons earlier this afternoon, then returned a few hours later. They are still sitting there (with the police cars sitting out in the 2nd lane of traffic). Probably 20 motorcycle officers, 6 police cars, 2-3 suburbans, 2 black eurovans, and an ambulance. The ambulance seems like the weird part. They shut down probably at least 10+ blocks ahead when the motorcade was returning (I was out walking the dog).

Apparently high profile people stay at the 4 Seasons because of the quick access to several freeways.

Just noticed they are flying an Italian flag in front of the Four Seasons instead of the typical Canadian flag.

For anyone that might care, it was the Italian President.

    Wonder why he's here.

I started googling concerts to see if some big name was in town.

For anyone that might care, it was the Italian President.

CERA convention is in downtown, attended by the top worldwide officials and dignitaries in the oil industry. What might the Italian government have to do with an oil company? Eni is their stated-owned, so the country's president has (or should have) more than just a casual interested in CERA.
