Cool pics! Thanks for sharing. Must be weird for the runway to still by falling away from you when landing.

Yeah, it's great up there. We've purchased four properties in the area within the last year. Lots at one time sold for up to 1mm, but I can assure you that now is the time to buy.

What is this plane? This is another one of those great pilot stories. He purchased it on ebay as a project while he was going to dental school just so he would have a plane. Two thousand hours later, it looks great-115 hp.

    Is that a non-aerobatic CAP 10?

Not a CAP 10. It is an original all wood French home built design that is a superb little airplane. It is work intensive but the result is a little Spitfire-like airplane that flies beautifully. I was fortunate to have some stick time in an award winning example built by Ted Hendrickson of Snohomish, Washington. You couldn't have a nicer little airplane. Ted is the ultimate craftsman and built wooden props for a long time that graced many homebuilts and antiques. I also flew with him in his award winning Monocoupe 90 and Curtiss-Wright Travel Air, another sweet flying little airplane. Probably as good as the Stearman, maybe better. Amazing performance for a little biplane. During those times at Snohomish I got to fly with Jack Lanning in his Wright J-4 powered 1929 Travel Air and with Dick Baxter in his Waco CSO. Man! Those were good times in the 70's and 80's! Mike Strong's Lockheed Model 12, a Cessna 195, Fly Baby, Monocoupe 90 AW, Ford powered Pietenpol, P-51 "Worry Bird", B-29 FiFi, B-25, PT-26,and a Stinson SR 10 Bushmaster, and some more that don't come to mind just yet. Hard to believe that it really happened and I wouldn't trade it for any fortune in the world. Sorry, got carried away.

We have an FCA event coming up in Little Switzerland on 8-10- 11 and 12. I am trying to set up a lunch at Mountain Air as part of that weekend. If I get it set up, I will extend an invitation to any FCA or Fchatters that may want to fly in and attend.

Along these lines...my fiancée and I were wondering if anyone is allowed to rent property there for weekends. It would be nice to fly in and have a place to kick it for a little while :)

Do advise about the 10-12, please!

Yes, we rented a condo when we looked at property there 4-29-11, and it had a great view of the end of the runway, not to mention the panoramic view before us. The lodge has 7 rooms I think as well. Here are a few pictures of that first trip as night became dawn...
