Has anyone ever moved the pedals further into the foot well of a Testarossa to gain more leg room for the driver? I know that some of the taller basketball players, etc have owned Testarossa’s and some of them are taller then me (I’m 6’5” or 195cm) they must have done something with the pedal setup. I have already replaced the original seats with Sparco Milano seats and have a steering column extension, which gained a small amount of extra leg room, (my knees are the problem) but I need more. Anyone ever seen anything done with the pedals, I can’t imagine it would be too hard as I think there is enough room in the front luggage area to move everything forward, just needs a little bit of work.

Are there no tall Testarossa owners out there?
Any with long legs, whose knees get in the way of good control of the steering wheel?
Has anyone come up with any solutions or seen any solutions in the past that would help tall drivers?

I just was thinking of doing the same thing to my 348 yesterday. I had the complete brake and assembly out of a 308 once, it was tied into the frame under the car. I didn't look like it would be that hard to do. Anybody know about his TR or a 348. I can't believe with all the talent here that this has not been tried before.

Wouldn't it be easier to shrink the gas tank and move the seat back?

look into Tilton they have a pedal set up that I think might acccomplish what your looking to do.

The assembly is quite similar to that on the 308's. It's been a while since I saw the opening to which the unit mounts but it could possibly be done by making a thick plate that offsets the mounting holes forward. The plate would bolt to the original mounts on the frame, and then the casting bolts to fittings in the plate forward of the original location. Hope that description makes sense?

Be careful. You can apply a lot of pressure to the middle pedal in a panic situation. It is very important that the brake pivot bar be appropriately tied into the chassis/unibody so it doesn't flex under compression.

Firstly, thanks for all your comments / advice.

Jim, I have thought of this option, “shrinking the gas tank” but I think doing this would require major modifications to a lot of the center of the car, not only the tank.

I also looked at pedal boxes, like the Tilton one, but again this would require some major modifications and leaves other problems, with the brake booster for example.

Si, I have a 280mm steering wheel and it does help a lot, but I’m one of those people who is all arms and legs and my knees still get in the way of the wheel.

Philip, I couldn’t agree more. I am very mindful of these problems, so which ever way I go I will probably way over engineer it, just to be sure.

Another thought I had was to make up a simple linkage for both the brake and clutch pedals; this may turn out to be the easiest option (see attached drawing). The accelerator is much easier to move forward, as it looks to be just a matter of extending one linkage (see drawings above from earlier post).
