All that aside, my statement was more reflective feeling sorry for any person who believes there is a valid excuse for being a racist.

I wasn't making an excuse for him being a racist. I honestly think, even though he is a relative, he can be real @$$HOLE. His points of view on everything can be ridiculously out there. Maybe he does belong in Wyoming.

The biggest thing I miss about California is the cultural aspect...restaurants, theater, diversity of population, etc.

Damn Straight. I grew up living on Mexican & Italian food. Most of my friends were of Mexican decent or 50/50. I came real close to marrying my best friends sister. (Mexican Woman - YUM!) I don't have any problem with any person coming here to Cali so long as they do it LEGALLY. Besides, Isn't diversity a beautiful thing.
