I thought it might be a good idea to list some bad movies, thereby possibly saving 2 hours from an Fchatters life. There are movies I don't like but you might like, then, there are movies that just plain suck, this list (at least from me) is the latter.

"The Purifiers" - I haven't seen a movie this lame since...
    "The Unforgotten"
    "The One"
    "Joe Dirt"
"Achorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy"

Agree..both "Pirates" movies were horrible. I've said they're good kids' movies but now that I think about it I would have thought they were stupid when I was 7.

    MI-3 wasn't too bad.

The list of bad movies is truly near-endless, and grows by leaps and bounds every year.

Duke's of Hazzard - Jessica Simpson was absolutely horrible.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - the new one. The Oompa Loompa songs are horrid. One midget is cloned, and it just flat out sucks compared to the original.

    What?!?!?!

Well, luckily everyone is entitled to their opinion. Here's mine :D

    (1) WRONG! It's hilarious -- one of the most widely quoted movies of all time.

    (2) Filmed in Canada?? So? How is that relevant? They film there because it's cheaper. It's still an EXCELLENT character study and a great movie.

    (3) And, finally.... oh my lord: "Too Racial"???? What the *bleep*? That's the POINT! Race relations! One of the few movies to explore the subtleties head-on, in a powerful, moving way. "Too Racial"? I don't even know what that means!

Well then you must have been one very critical, discerning 7 year old! About 50 million people (and I'd be willing to bet practically EVERY SINGLE 7 year old who saw them) thought the movies were hilarious and fun. If you were expecting "deep cinema", of course you'd be disappointed. But come on, they were pirate movies! I think the first was better than the second, but they were both a riot and had neat special effects. Hardly deserving of the "movies to avoid" category.

Now here's a few to avoid:

-- Waiting for Guffman. (Mind numbingly stupid and slow -- too pretentious, too. Odd, because I liked "Best in Show")

-- Alexander. (I hardly know what to say, this one was so bad. I mean, nothing against Colin Farrel, but he *sucked* in this movie.)

-- Troy. (Only a notch above -- or below, whatever, Alexander. Both had neat effects/panorama views, but not enough to rescue the hammy acting and frequent bad dialogue. Mind you, nothing against the mythical-epic genre itself, I actually think Gladiator is an awesome movie.)

-- ANY version of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". (Just retarded. Was retarted in high school when people kept trying to get me to sit through it, still retarded now, always will be retarded.)

-- Showgirls. (Seriously. I love female nudity just like the next guy, but no amount of nipple exposure could rescue this piece of crap.)

I have a few more but can't remember them now...

    And I quote:
Actually, I agree with you about "Princess Bride" and, to a lesser extent, about the first Pirates of the Carribean film.

I just find the casting of Johnny Depp in that role to be a disaster. Geoffrey Rush was great in his part, but Depp just doesn't fit unless captain jack was three years old when he was tossed off the pearl. And he looks more drunk than crazy.

Like "Rocky", you really need to have seen Disney's PotC to appreciate the film. For Pirates, it's more like "ought to have"; for Rocky, it's essential. It's the audience participation that's kept that film running for 30 years.
I walked out of the theatre from the '82 version of "Cat People" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083722/) -- I can't remember why I was bored enough to walk in to begin with.

Gosh, sorry you missed this one. Absolutely brilliant, and I don't bother to go to the movies even once a year. If I say it's good, trust me, it's good. "Princess Bride" is one of the few movies I have paid to own.

The first time I saw "Rocky Horror" I was shocked and disgusted. But it was the height of the midnight craze ((1970s) and so I ended up seeing it again with my friends a week later. Having got over the shock the first time, I was able to watch it and see what they were talking about. I'm not a gay pervert, but I thought it was well-presented, with a worthwhile message. Went again the next week and was rather bored. Saw the stage production a year later, and enjoyed it, but, it didn't inspire me to be gay or anything. Helped me to feel OK with who I am, which is the real message, even if that means I'm pretty normal sexually.

    I'm OK, you're a pervert!

I was a nasty little bugger. Yeah, I thought the first "Pirates" was going to be a more serious historical drama; for the second one, I went with some younger friends and knew what I was getting into, so have only myself to blame.

    Alexander..really, really bad.

    Troy...not terribly bad, watchable.

Rocky Horror: We went to see this at a long-running midnight show about 1982, when the audience dressed up like the characters, repeated the dialogue, etc. It was a fun evening, the movie was outrageously perverse and very hilarious, and Susan Sarandon was one hot chick. Haven't seen it again, could be worth a rental.

I think the point of Pirates of the carribbean was to be over-the-top and ridiculous. They were hilarious and I think Johnny Depp plays the part perfectly. I think he is supposed to seem more drunk than crazy.

Snakes on a Plane is so bad it's hilarious. It's a terrible movie but I wouldn't avoid it. It's one of those ones that are so bad you want to see them over and over.

    Some bad movies are
Red Eye - even worse than Snakes on a Plane, and nearly not as funny.
House of Sand and Fog - most boring movie ever and it's disturbing to watch Ben Kingsley suffocate to death.
Hostel - pointless gore, no plot
Star Wars Episode 3 - worst acting I have ever seen! I don't care if it's an epic, the acting is terrible and special effects can't make up for that.

    i pretty much agree here

but joe dirt was good if you watch it one time, one of those silly-stupid movies as well as Ron Burgandy. they are pretty much in the same class of movies.

i would also say that i am going by movies being oscar winners. i am going by the "able to watch because of it being entertaining" whether it be good or funny.

now that charlie cholcate factory goes with edward scissorhands and the rest of those tim burton dark movies. just can not handle them, not my cup of tea

Have to disagree with you there, I thought Hostel was an interesting movie. Mainly because this level of gore is rarely seen in a "commercialised" American movie. Besides, there was a plot (a flesh trade of a different sort), and it was exceedingly satisfying to see dumbf**ks who came seeking carnal pleasures (sexual) getting carved up by sicker people who came seeking for carnal pleasures of their own.
