Need to trailer transport a 1989 328 gts I recently bought. Need to know it's ground clearance in inches and any advise on how to trailer load it without causing any damage to the car. If anyone has done this your advise would be appreciated. Have trailered a few cars before but not a ferrari. Does the US spec model weigh 3170 lbs? Thanks!

I rented the dual axel uHaul car carrier to tow my 308 with no issue. You do need 2 4x4 boards about 4 feet long with one end cut at an angle for a ramp to reduce the onboarding angle.

thanks Matteo I went to uhaul to rent their autotransport trailer and they said the ferrari 328 dimensions were not compatible. When did you do that move? Maybe they changed trailers. Did you modify anything else on the trailer? What did they say about loading your 308 at the time of rental?

I moved it using the trailer in July of this year. I got the same "disclaimer" from them. They do not account for using the boards like all tow truck drivers use. I did not modify anything else on the trailer. I used 4x4 boards. Now that I think about it. a 6x6 4 feet long with a more gradual slope would have been better.

You can load it on most any trailer. You may need boards to help clear the spoiler at the bottom of the ramp, but they need not be thick. I use 1/2 inch plywood and it works just right. Get a good set of tie downs. I wrap them through the lower A arms being careful not to put pressure on the anti roll bars. Some people tie through the wheels instead. If you do, be careful that the metal parts of the tie down don't hit/rub against the bottom of the front spoiler. Figure weight at about 3250.
