    Hi folks,

My wife and I are loading up the truck and moving to Beverly!... Well actually it's a Ferrari California, and we're moving to West Hollywood. Whatever. Close enough. Anyway, we are moving from Houston to L.A. in a couple of weeks and I wanted to reach out to you guys and gals to say "Hi" and to get the lay of the land. Previously we were members of the Houston area FCA, so wondering if the club is active over there. Would also enjoy meeting some new people if there are any events coming up.

We'll be living in an apartment, so we need some recommendations on reliable car detailers for regular maintenance washes (nothing fancy like paint correction, but someone who is conscientious about working with black cars).

Also, if anybody has advice on auto insurance with reasonable rates for a Ferrari California I am all ears.

    Wish us luck!

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Christopher, and welcome to lalaland! You won't have any trouble finding a detailer. There are millions here, and most are very skilled. The Ferrari community here is large and varied, from concours guys to track guys to Stooges. There'll be a Stoogeapalooza soon at Peter's house in Sherman Oaks, so plan to be there and meet some of the (crazier) guys. Prepare to enjoy your car like never before! The roads are awesome.

Coming from H Town, I hope the elevation changes don't scare you. ;) :)

Thanks, guys! Not afraid of the elevation changes at all... Well maybe a little. 😉 We looked at a couple places in the Hollywood Hills and Silver Lake that made me a little nervous--really narrow streets and a few stomach dropping moments on the steeper hills. On the other hand, we drove through the hills in Bel Air and that was a lot of fun! Looking forward to the change!

    say goodbye to humidity ...

    and hello to entitlement !

City fees for parking and such can be a percentage of income, be careful on that front.

The driving here is great, and this is car central, you will be happy.

I had my 360 insured with State Farm, call Mischa Hassan @310-545-6579. I think I paid about ~ $1,200 per year. He has a number of clients with exotic cars, so should be no issues.

Very active FCA-SW Chapter has a lot of things going on every month. Track days, wine country drives, Hawaii trip - just about something for everyone. Additionally I put together a monthly West LA to Malibu lunch drive on (usually) the last Friday of every month - open to everyone. May good "cars and Coffee" events as well. Many FChat organized events as well.

    Welcome!
