I am moving to south Houston (friendswood/league city) in few weeks. My 308 will be a couple months behind but I wanted to try to lay out some ground work now.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on good mechanics, good drives, places to avoid (and don't say south Houston!), shops to avoid?

    PMs desired.

    Thanks,
    Reid

Ferrari of Houston if you are desperate and loaded
Vintage Motorcars (Ferda is the Lead mechanic) for very decent work, but NOT inexpensive
There is James a hole in the wall restorer....you will need to dig his number from Tex or someone else...I am not with it now. Very good old timer.
There is Moorespeed in Austin...David is excelent too.
Also, the mechanic from Drivers Source whom quit and started his own business on Highway 6 and Briar forest.. can't remenber the name now.
    Cheers

FCA sponsors some nice drives and we have a First Saturday Cars and Coffee at the Galleria.

I'll let others chime in on 'favorite shops'......I'm not saying anything until my yellow car comes back, from it's 18 month "nap against the fence"......

Check in when you get here, it's a party somewhere.... every night!!

Thanks for all the inputs. I'll give a shout once I am established in south south Houston. Hoping to get the car down by November.

To answer Ryan, I flew F-14s and F-18s in a previous life.

well unsure if this is helpful but if your car is going thru /near Dallas try Norwoods. Fair and honest. FOH was a rip in IMO.

There's several shops good with 308/328s...

In defense, FoH is using all Factory parts at list price....that would 'total' my cars out.....:D :D

And I buy books and neck ties in the boutique......Amanda craves a VESPA too!

The Body Shop is a multi million dollar facility Certified on the new car aluminum frames....a Tour in itself.

    Hi,

New to the forum and Ownership! I see that you are moving to South Houston. Good deal! I have an 03' 360 and have been in Houston for 3 years now. I used to take my car to Driversource for all m work. The service Dept. was always top drawer mainly because of the chap who ran it, Mark Darragh. My first experience with Mark was simply great. His knowledge, competency & candor put me at such immediate ease that I knew my 360 was in good hands. Driversource was not in anyway inexpensive but, you don't mind as long as the service is reliable. Anyway, I started experiencing some gear change issues and contacted Driversource and learned that Mark struck out on his own. Took it to mark and have not had a care since. He's tremendously gifted when it comes to these cars and in my opinion, he's the best at what he does, at least for my money! If you're interested he's just off I-10, 600 Hwy.6, Sphere Motorsports west of Downtown Houston. Coming from South Houston, that wouldn't be too bad a drive for you. His business number is 832-277-7062. Hope this helps & Welcome to Houston!

Welcome as well.......Ferda is so covered up, he's had one of mine 18 months for a tune up........that's getting rather trying, but he's close to finishing now....
