Okay, the internal announcement was made at work today, so I can talk about it in public now. Spicy and I will be looking for a place in the eastern PA/central NJ area. I want to get excellent value for my money and don't want to spend a fortune. We're keeping the lake house in FL as our refuge place, so we're not looking for anything on the water up there. I want a modest house, nothing fancy, just a nondescript in a decent middle class neighborhood.

    Thoughts?

Just wondering if you have kids....if you do, I imagine the school system would be a factor in your decision.

Should be plenty of "nondescript" houses to choose from! LOL just kidding. Congratulations on your return to civilization! I know that you are pretty tired of China right now but your experience there will be invaluable to you in your career.

Well if you are looking in the New Jersey area, I am a real estate agent here so I would be happy to help. I concentrate in mostly Central New Jersey but do MANY other areas as well.

If schools are a factor I would heavily suggest Middlesex county, especially East Brunswick, one of the best in the state. Let me know if I could be of any assistance.

No kids yet, so that's not a huge factor.

Not looking for anything fancy (everyone at work thinks I make/have too much money as it is, weird culture related to cash there). 3-4 bedrooms, 2-2.5 baths, 2100-2300 sqft. Probably not going to live there forever, so something simple that isn't a crack house is fine. Office is in Woodbridge, want the commute to be less than an hour twenty each way, so that should be most of central NJ.

One other thing. We live in a town of 20MM people right now, semi-rural/non-gentrified is okay for us...

Wife's been looking on the web, we're leaning eastern PA right now (Nazareth/Easton area). Commute is going to be a b!tch, but we're finding houses in our price range with 3+ acre lots. I don't want to be 2 feet away from my next door neighbor.

Also, it give me room to extend the garage. :)

Sam, you can try all three when I get them up there.
