About how many songs can be put on 1 cd and how is the quality compared to a regular cd? Just thinking about one for the car.

Figure about 3mb/mp3. A normal CD holds 650mb, so 650/3 = 216 songs or so. There are also 700mb CD's so figure on another 20songs or so. Make sure that your car's CD player supports mp3 CD's.

I usually rip my mp3s at a varible 192 bitrate and fit about 100-150 songs on a CD. The sound quality difference is essentially imperceivable even in your living room. In the car it becomes a non-issue to even the most opinionated audiophile.

Depends on the source and how it's encoded. Basically, given a 192 Kbps track, you probably won't notice any difference. 128 is minimum that I use.

if you are an audiophile, yes, you will notice a difference in the sound quality from an mp3 encoding, even if it is at 192. 192 bitrate is just extra samples essentially to brighten up the track.

if you want it for the car, without using an mp3 player IN the car, you can use an app like Nero to write MP3 files to a CD to play in the car. it will convert the MP3 files to a CDA file (which is a larger, Compact Disk Audio format file).
