the "fax machine" has become so cheap, many are now using them to heat their homes! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow that's terrible. I feel sorry for the owner. UPDATE Here's the article. Apparently it was a rental. Driver escaped with minor burns. I don't trust rental cars. Too much chance for abuse or poor or improper maintenance. This may not be the fault of the car. McLaren 12C Bursts Into Flames Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe not but it rarely happens with Cadillacs from Hertz. A shame and a waste. Glad the injuries were minor.
My thoughts exactly! Some people just have no clue. Also lets not forget that every AUDI LMP1 car has been turbocharged and they seem to have done pretty ok as well over the last decade or so!

Wow that's horrible. Masonry also does a similar stupid kit version for Ferrari. Dumb. Fastest way to depreciate your exotic: Crash it or add an ugly body kit.
I wonder if McL is planning a facelift to make the car a look a little more exciting, at least the coupe. Spider with openntop looks ok to me.
That would be my guess. The car was too far along the cosmetic phase for Frank to intervene. I believe Mac will or should produce a revised 'Frank' version. It's a pretty straight forward process as the tub and chassis are not affected. The big gamble is that if the new version is well received... A entire new thread will be needed for all the upset early adopters!! I have driven several versions and each version gets better. Mclaren is a responsive company and have an efficient process and quality products... Just a few tweaks and a cosmetic win and I may step up.... Ill just be patient till then. Cheers, Rb
Same thing happens with a 360 Spider... Most people will agree that the fax machine is faster and other cars look better.
Depends on where you live. Nobody cares about 360s in South Beach, but in a small town with fewer than 10 Ferraris (most of which are never driven) you will get a reaction.
I scanned the thread quickly and saw no mention of what I found this morning, the MP4-12C HS (High Sport). I was not a big fan of the 12C looks until I saw this limited version. Instead of the over round boringness imo of the standard version this design looks mean, aggressive, and just right; http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ABzRCqoauXE/T1V6QVElS2I/AAAAAAAADVY/9nTM3zqO3YA/s1600/McLaren-MP4-12C-High-Sport-Gear-Patrol.jpg http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/gallery/all-five-mclaren-mp4-12c-high-sport-editions-in-one-photo-shoot/All%20Five%20McLaren%20MP4-12C%20High%20Sport%20Editions%20in%20One%20Photo%20Shoot%20008.jpg
and the Heiny, kinda like a Mclaren scud, it has an extra 75bhp also, even though it's a turbo which I only usually like in F1 because it kills the sound on street cars I would say it's hard to not call this a winner http://nafterli.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/03-mclaren-mp4-12c-high-sport.jpg Edit interior - quite the cocoon feeling with that wide high sill. http://newscartrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/McLaren-MP4-12C-High-Sport-Limited-Edition-Supercar-Interior-View.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2012/03/31-mclaren-mp4-12c-high-sport.jpg
Doesn't help what, exactly? I like the look of the HS, but are you saying that it does nothing for the resale market, or nothing for the looks? I can imagine, especially now that all of the cars are eligible for the HP upgrade, that the HS isn't any more special but for the looks. That will cause some to ask/pay a bit more, IMHO, but that is all. I would actually expect McLaren to tweak the current car's cosmetics more in that direction.
Can any 12C owners chime in here and give there opinion of how the car drives for someone that actually owns it instead of journalists who test it for a day or two?
