My wife has a euro 1984 GTS and is considering changing the U.S. speedometer face to the euro one. The odometer reads in kilometers. All other gauges are metric. Has anyone done this and did you like the final result?

I had North Hollywood Speedometer add a MPH scale to a car that had it's speedo in KM/H. Instead of changing the face totally, why not just add the smaller scale?

    Here's what mine looked like.

Here's what mine looks like. It's a 85 308 euro. The odometer reads in km. Mine stops working after 15 to 20 minutes of driving. After it cools down it works again. It my bounce a few times before stopping. It always drops to 20. Lets see want yours looks like.

I have an 84 Euro GTS QV, but it's UK spec so my speedo has the MPH outer scale and odometer in miles. I'd love to switch to a Euro face and odo in km speedometer, as Canada used km/h for speed limits and distances.

If anybody with a km/h and km QV speedometer wants to trade for a MPH/miles speedometer, I'd be interested!

For alfaron, the speedo face switch on gray market Euro 308s was pretty common when they were 'federalized', so the face switch back to km/h wouldn't be bad - if you can find the face! I heard that Palo Alto Speedometers did a bunch of the conversions and actually had their own MPH face made up, but didn't keep the km/h faces that came off, so they don't have any available. (I would love to be corrected on that point)

I have the same issue. 85 Euro QV with odometer in km and speedo face in miles. I took mine down to Palo Alto Speedometer and they looked at it and said it had a screen print over the original. They used to get them sent to them back in the day for gray market cars all the time. It was much cheaper than buying a new speedo. Unfortunately they don't have the images to change them back. They suggested buying a broken euro speedo and they would exchange the faceplate.

    Hi Dave,

If you have not seen it, you may want to have a close look at this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/419560-308-speedo-repair-rebuild.html

There is a lot in there about converting from kph to mph, etc.

    Best,

    John.

Thanks John, I just read that thread a couple of nights ago. I'm going to check my sender first as soon as I fix that nasty heater hose that just broke from the engine to the heater control valves in the front. I have a lot of different things I want to fix. Thanks to all you on this form, I have already fixed a lot of things.

My 82 Euro looks identical to this one. I like the gauges this way.
