I see this as a meta-thread, a thread about Glickenhaus' behavior and reputation because of 0846 and other activities; a related, but not the same, topic. Merging this into the 0846 thread would mean that commentary about P4/5 or SCG models or the Ferrari Modulo or the Dino prototype, etc, would get dropped into the 0846 thread, which isn't appropriate either. If there's still anything left to discuss about 0846, it is still open. Also, one can reasonably expect that new users might ask about Glickenhaus every few years and this maintains a place to merge those new queries without having to read through thousands of posts about 0846 before getting to the aftermath of 0846 and other activities.

I think my question about eyeball views just got answered.

 

Perhaps those people who are most aggravated by JGs campaign to legitimize his replica should mirror his tactics. Post detailed videos on YouTube explaining why his car isn’t what he claims it to be. Post detailed photos with explanations on google images, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other available social media. Use the media Jim uses to spread his fantasy about 0846 to publish the truth about DP003 and the facts showing Jim does not own 0846. That would be far more productive and wider reaching than rehashing it over and over here, where he will most assuredly never respond with material facts to disprove what’s been discovered about his replica.

 

Just a final, tiny piece of advice. In case you haven't noticed, there are three mods subscribed to this thread.

That probably isn't a bad idea... except Jim has a reputation for being litigious and the other side is no one interviews you for calling out someone else. They interview you when they have a shiny car to take a picture of. So just to get the ear of the outlets is difficult.

 

We agree there’s no issue rehashing it on topic, but having it spread into other threads on this site is tiresome.

I believe if documentation were published on the sites I previously mentioned JG may certainly threaten litigation. However actually following through would be a challenge, particularly when some of the sources post from other countries. And it’s unfortunate that some magazines and other sources you mention perform no fact finding when doing stories on his replica, but the more easily accessible documentation available through simple ‘0846’ search the harder it will be for him to perpetuate his tales. An expert like Steve could provide an insurmountable trove of documentation to take over the narrative on a wider audience via social media sites and I believe that would be the most effective tactic to stop JGs 0846 charade. Documenting on those various sites would rank in search algorithms in a way that would keep the truth from being buried on this single site. The facts wouldn’t be a footnote on the fantastic story Jim has dreamt up. Writers who would have been apt to publish whatever he told them would then have too many counterpoints to ignore, and hopefully that would compel them to scrap the story or edit it so as to not allow their publication to be manipulated into inadvertently legitimizing his story.

Grasshopper. Litigation has nothing to do with truth, justice and the American way. Litigation is all about learning to never play no-limit poker with a guy who owns a poker chip factory.

 

Exactly why Steve is in an optional position. JG may have cash to litigate, but playing in the UK courts dramatically changes the game. Looser pays in that setting. If Jim brings a complaint he will need to show what Steve has posted is false. If he can’t, he pays his own legal plus all of Steve’s. Attrition and forcing your opponent to hemorrhage cash and capitulate isn’t likely. Especially when your complaint isn’t air tight... and Jim’s is more like a fart in the wind.

 

The one good thing to being sued is discovery. You get to ask the other side anything and everything you want, under oath. If you have nothing to hide, the process can be reveling.

Happens every day. You still have to pay to defend yourself. There is a tactic where you effectively kill them in discovery. Also while undersuit you are heavily advised to not discuss the topic .so you get to pay for your own gag order. It's not ideal

 

I think you guys are missing a good portion of my point. When the publications etc... Get served with a cease and decist for defamation they will.halt the article/remove it etc... They won't have any interest in fighting him .You don't have to choke your opponent to death if you can starve them .

 

I'll give Rob some kudos in this regard. As far as I know, he has never backed down when someone has threatened to sue FerrariChat. If anything, he goes full Chuck Norris.
