Michael Schumacher on Monday was unhurt in a 80kph fall as he continued his foray into the world of motorcycle racing. Bild newspaper claims that the fall, at the Lausitzring circuit in Germany, was one of three falls in total for the former champion since he began regularly sampling the thrills of two-wheeled action. On Monday, the 39-year-old was testing an IDM (German Superbike) Honda when he crashed. "This sort of thing happens," he told Bild. Schumacher's other falls reportedly occurred in April, at the Bresse circuit in France. His wife, Corinna, told the Frankfurt newspaper FAS that she will not forbid Schumacher from riding. "Michael knows exactly what he is doing," she said. "I trust him absolutely and will not begrudge him his fun."
I find it amusing that he retired from F1 "because of the danger" and he now spends his time racing motorcycles Why don't people accept the fact that he retired rather than drive alongside Kimi? The veracity of that is becoming increasingly apparent.
IMO, it's a lot safer to fall from a bike ...you just roll and roll and roll.... Less odds of getting a suspension strut jammed thru your head......glad MS is ok.....
+1 Most accidents end up like these.. exceptions of course. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6IXIxyX0p3k&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=vh5di7czazU&feature=related
If that is the case, why would he still test at Ferrari with Kimi? Would he not avoid driving a F1 car at the same track, let alone, the same car?
Now he will say that MS is not really competiting against Kimi, since testing is different than racing.... blah blah MS is still the best.
I was going to say the same thing Tex but then Ted would have asked me for proof and I dont have the time to look it up.
Eveytime Michael brushes his teeth or shoves snow, he risk getting osteomyelitis or a MI. How dare he actually have a life after his F1 retirement ? Unless Michael starts to live inside a bubble, Ted is never going to be satisfied.
It doesn't matter anyways, Michael would have destroyed Kimi last year. I hope he has fun with his bikes.
I don't know about that. If I'm going to wreck, I think I'd rather have some sheet metal around me...
I think he would have, too. I am disappointed we didn't get to see that. Now THAT'S what I call a driver pairing
This is Biaggi rolling as the bke comes out of the sky to crush him. How close was that? And that was Haga rolling, on the ground in front of 2/3's of the field. They both were very lucky.
Well okay then I was wrong, I was thinking of the times my bike on the street when I was hit by a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville, from behind at a stop sign, or the time I flew thru the rear window of a Chevrolet Suburban doing an illlegal u turn during the repeal of the helment laws in Texas......500 stitches and a broken jaw, concussions... Compared to THAT tumbling off and getting hit might hurt but would not have the consequences that Heavy Metal had for me.. I gave them up and took up a safer hobby...parasailing!
Seen a few but cant be compared to track as everything on the track is usually moving the same way. Its rare for a bike to hit something solid on the track....unlike the street. The major culprit for bikes on the street seems to be taxis and tow trucks
Good point about the track, I was thinking more of street riding. I used to own a Honda Inteceptor 700 back in my college days. For me the biggest threat came from little old ladies driving huge Oldsmobiles...
