Schumacher doesn't currently own three seperate private jets, but has over the course of his F1 career. See post #23 for more info. Oh, and that is a Global Express (the new XRS) in the picture.

Oh ok - yeah, sorry, I meant that this isn't a picture of his exact plane, but it looks like this. He actually flew up to near you to pick it up - are they made up there?

My bad, I should have read your post more clearly. Yes, the Bombardier factory (where LearJets and Challengers are also built) is on site at Montreal's Dorval airport. That's not right around here, but only about an hour away by air.

Do you know what type of Gulfstream or Global Express he flies? If you have any pictures, I'd like to see them.

I don't have any pictures of them - I know he has a Gulfstream 5, but I'm not sure what the other one is. When he doesn't use them he rents them out to the University. He lives down the street from me and shares pilots with another guy on my block that has two jets of his own, but I don't know what kind he has.

That's what I thought. Must of mis-read your statement.

I'm confused by your statement. He has nowhere near the money for three jets, but has them (and Gulfstream and Global Express run into the tens of millions for a new jet)?

He probably means that he has nowhere near the money Schumacher has.

Makes sense. Putting up a Gulfstream V5 or 550, or the Global Express, would be around $40-some million green for each jet. Guessing you would need a very high net worth for that kind of purchase.

Right - sorry for the lack of clarification. When he got his first jet and it was cloudy outside, he would have his pilot take him up so he could have his coffee and read the newspaper in the sun.

Honestly, it's a little hard for me to describe because I'm not sure how he made the bulk of his fortune. He's one of those people that seems to be involved in so many ventures it's difficult to really say "what he does."

That said, he has a LOT of land and does a lot of development work. He also owns a very large hobby distributor company (I think this is where he made most of his fortune).

Sounds like he's a sharp guy. From that, I wouldn't doubt his net worth is close or bigger than Schmi's.
