i just read something about them two joining ferrari next year. anyone confirm their contracts yet? http://www.f1i.com/content/view/4603/1/
A friend of mine had the priviledge to be in the pits at Indy and spotted Jean Todd and Kimi talking casual. They shook hands before parting and as Kimi left , he observed how Jean Todd returned the Bye bye handshake with a friendly "clapp" on Kimis bum... He was in his Race overall.. Sadly he didn't capture this on camera... To me, Jean's gesture is a signal and "welcome to THE family"... Just my 2cents
pardon the ignorance (i dont follow F1 all that much), but i thought MS was retiring after this season ?
Wasnt there some talks about Alsonso coming to ferrari to take over MS's position for the next season?
2007 if MS retires? Kimi and Massa. Fisi already signed with Renault, Alsonso already signed with McLaren. But in a conversation with Peter Windsor last weekend, he thinks Kimi will go to Renault, and that Ferrari will be Michael and Felipe. We will know in Septembet during Monza.
all of this is just opinion. But, there is NO WAY Kimi is parterning with Michael. Michael would never allow himself to be an "equal" with a teammate ever again and Kimi would never be #2 to anyone. Ain't gonna happen
Yeah i agree, i always thought Kimi's ego wouldn't allow him to become a second driver to Michael. I could also imagine Michael becoming insecure at the fact that he has a younger and possibly faster teammate.
I think Schumi and Raikonnen would make a great team. Im sure Schumacher is coming back. In the USGP interview by Bob Varsha he said he still feels fit and can run with the younger guys (actually he still dominates the younger guys). The only reason there is such controversy over his retirement is his age, of course, but there are older drivers and since Schumi is the most skilled driver ever to climb behind the wheel, Id be shocked if he did retire.
i wouldnt b so sure. kimi might like to be the man who beats the master, in the same machine ! and schumi might see this as the first step towards his eventual role as team owner.....
Good one and I bet that it's even true. Thinking about the whole Kimi deal, my feeling is, that the reason we have no clue what's going on is because nobody else does: As long as MS hasn't decided whether to drive next year or not, we won't know whether Kimi is going to Ferrari or not. I also think MS himself hasn't made that decision yet. So given the friendly banter between the Ferrari people and Kimi and the signed option by Kimi with Ferrari (at least that part is known) here is what my crystal ball says: - MS continues in 2007, Massa being his pal - Kimi goes to Renault for 2007 trying to capture the title (will be difficult on BS tires) - MS retires after 2007 and leaves his seat to Kimi for 2008 So the 2007 season will see the gigantic battle between Kimi in the Renault vs MS in the Ferrari. Alonso will get the occasional podium/win and otherwise used to DNFs. Big question to me is, who will be driving the Red Bull 2008? That should be a rocket with BS tires, Ferrari engine and Newey design. Good to podium finally.
1st of all, i don;t think MS will really be bothered about kimi being his partner. what makes everyone think kimi will be faster than MS? give everyone an equal car out there, and i bet MS will be the man to beat. even nigel mansell thinks so. even if kimi were faster than MS, it doesn't mean anything. MS will be retiring as a legend, and kimi , FA, and everyone out there will have looonngg way to catch MS's records. i doubt if we'll all live to see anyone beat his records. took almost 50 yrs or so to get a 3 time champ in a row. for me, it doesn;t really matter if kimi partners MS and he being faster than MS next season. MS can still teach that kid a thing or two...
