How true were the recent rumors by the Corriere della Sera? http://www.motorsport-aktuell.com/automobil/sag-niemals-nie-schumacher-in-die-dtm-3971851.html MS will test drive a DTM Mercedes this year. No word on when he'll be switching racing series though. "Er wird sicher mal unser neues DTM-Coupe für 2012 testen." Und zwar noch dieses Jahr. Über eine etwaige DTM-Zukunft will Haug "wenn überhaupt" erst dann reden, "wenn Michael nicht mehr Formel 1 fahren will". Das sei im Moment noch nicht absehbar, versichern alle Beteiligten. Translation (not totally verbatim): Haug "He will be testing our DTM coupe for 2012. He'll do it this year." As for a switch to DTM: "We'll talk about that when Michael no longer wants to drive F1." Currently that cannot be predicted said all parties involved.
Absolutely. DTM is not without danger, but a whole lot less risky than super bikes. It would also be a first for DTM to have two brothers competing. For what it's worth.
If I was him, I wouldn't do that: a) No F1 driver has ever succeeded in DTM b) Schumacher is horrible in cars where he can't see the wheels (as admitted by himself IIRC) If I was him, I'd either stay in F1 just for fun or leave professional racing altogether.
Nope....so I'll assume the answer to my question is 'no' He's driving against the very best rally drivers in the world.....and coming 8th. Amazing how some people see some sort of negative in that. I sure feel sorry for the guy coming 20th!!
+1 Rally is its very own motorsport, which is very different from F1. Coming in 8th shows his incredibly versatile talent. It'd be different if he'd be 8th at another open wheel roadracing monoposto series, but not if he'd try Rally.
+1 He was a LOT better in the Sauber Group C car than in the monoposto F3 he drove before that. As for his future: Ecclestone commented that he wished MS would become a F1 team manager.
Yep. I think Michael's "pit consultant" role at Ferrari a couple years ago helped him get any desire to be a F1 Manager out of his system.
Let's see, if it had been Lewis Hamilton that turned into Kobyoshi Hamilton would have been penalized no question about it. And Hobbs & Varsha must be blind because as the replay from behind car view clearly shows Kobyoshi turns in on Hamilton and the commentators thought Hamilton should have given Kobyoshi more room, seriously??
