Does anyone know what size the OEM wires are for the BB512i? I'm trying to decide whether I need the 7mm, 8mm or 8.5mm wires to go with my new MSD ignition.

I note on www.italiancarparts.com it has stock BB512i plug wires as being 7mm. Does anyone know if that is correct?

You might want to purchase a digital caliper. They typically sell for around $40 to $50 and are very hand for measuring the outside (and inside) diameters of things.......

I found out that stock plug wires for a BB512i are 7mm. Does anyone know if you must change the plug wires when you install an MSD? If so, why can't you just use the stock plug wires?

Previous posts claim that the stock wires cannot contain the additional spark voltage...I have no idea of the veracity of that claim. Or whether anyone actually experienced the problem....A search in the archives may bring up more detailed information...especially from the old site, if those are now accessible.

I just ordered 50 feet of Magnecore 7mm wire in black. Now I have everything on order, MSD 6AL, MSD SS Blaster coil and the Magnecore wires. I can't wait to everything gets here so I can get it installed!

FWIW, my car has the 7AL2 running stock wires and stock coil and has been in that configuation since it was coverted to MSD a few years ago by the PO. I cannot say that I have run the car much since I bought it last year, but there seems to be no issues with that config. Just bought a new set of stock wires as well, so am sticking with good 'ole CAVIS until I have good reason to change.
