If the weather cooperates, Im planning to take the GT3 to MSR Saturday Jan 8th. Any Fchatters going?? Mark McKenzie
The latest weather forecast calls for rain on Sat but clear on Sunday, so I was thinking of taking my 911 out then. I haven't been out since July as I have been recovering from a ruptured achilles tendon, so this will be my first test of the ankle. I expect to be very slow as I work out the cob webs ...
When is your condo going to be done? I believe that is you, right? I need to discus if you will rent a garage spot and also your weekend rates if you still plan on daily rents. Thanks, rob
Yes, thats me. The project had MANY delays, the last one when the bank pulled out at the last minute. Several of us had been working with them for 6 months, then suddenly, days before closing, they decided they did not want to be involved with a property on a race track. We have a new bank committed now and they are local (Granbury) so it should be smooth sailing from here. I suspect we will break ground at the end of the month with a 4 month build out. I am still number 2 in line. If you have been out there recently, I am going up next to the one that has been started. If you are looking at the houses from the track, I will be just to the right. I am going to rent 3 spots in the 6 car garage. The current plans call for two lifts to be installed, one 2-post (for maint. work) and one 4-post (to store another car). One of the bays will be a workshop, so capacity will still be 6-cars. I plan on moving my tools out there and the garage will be plumbed for air tools in all bays. Garage rental will include use of the tools and lifts. There will be doors on both the front and back of the garage with a driveway leading to the back. This will allow cars to be moved in and out without disturbing the others. The garage will also be equipped with a bathroom and shower. The garage rentals will be monthly with weekend and daily rental rates on the rest of the house. I will also make the 911 available for rent as an 'arrive and drive' type experieince. Rates are still TBD. I would love to have you out there and perhaps host an F-chat or FCA party to break the place in. I'll keep you posted as the plans progress ....
Sounds great, I want to have a FerrariChat.com event out there, but also maybe rent the place on NASA weekends. I want to put the 355 Challenge there if my insurance guy will let me (FarmerDave!). Let me know a rate and I can commit right now. I might even be interested in having two spots. So I would have a key to the garage or would I have to get access from the guys in the clubhouse? Thanks, rob
Rob (Lay), I'm gonna be in the office till at least 10pm tonight doing marketing plans... give me a call at the office sometime this evening so we can chat, I want to make sure I understand the arrangement before I go hypotheical on the underwriter. (972)252-sixtyfive-ten.
Rob(Lay), I spoke with the underwriters, and recieved confirmation that it is acceptable to store the 355 Challenge car at MSR, whether it be in a private garage at the main facility, or in a leased garage space at a private condo linked with MSR. For anyone interested, the type of policy we're talking about is an "STP" policy which covers dedicated track cars while they are in "Storage, Transit, and Paddock." There is no coverage for use on public roads, and no coverage on the racecourse, once the vehicle has left the paddock area. "Shunts" are not covered. There is also no liability component. The primary requirement is that the vehicle be kept in a locked, enclosed garage, whether at your home or a leased garage stall. Premiums are reasonable, typically 1% of the agreed value for an annual policy. Both modern and vintage track cars are eligible. This type of policy is ideal for dedicated track vehicles which would be garaged at MSR. If anyone has any questions, or wants more info, PM me, or call my office.
