Would that not have varied by production year and options?

Looks like we'll need to broaden the question a bit.

Any of you guys have the original invoice for your cars?

69-74 saw the end of fixed exchange rates and the inflation of the first oil price shock. The taxation of new cars also differs significantly between countries, so it isn't straight forward.

    Matthias -

I have the original invoice from "Modern Classic Motors, Inc. - (Importer)" [as printed on the invoice letterhead) to the dealer, Grand Prix Motors (now Ferrari of Seattle) for my Dino (246GTS), dated April 4, 1973. It includes both the MSRP and Dealer NET, and it reads as follows:

"Dealer: Grand Prix Motors, 150 Lakeside, Seattle, Washington

Port of Entry San Francisco, California

Delivered to Dealer At Reno, Nevada

    SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE/ NET

    Suggested retail price P.O.E. - $15,300.00/ $12,750.00

    Accessories:

    Metallic Paint 205.00/ 185.00
    Leather Internior 360.00/ 315.00
    Air Conditioning 600.00/ 525.00
    Power Windows 205.00/ 185.00

    Total Accessories 1,370.00/ 1,210.00

Federal Excise Tax on Tires 12.30/ 12.30

    Preparation Charge ----

Modern Classic Motors makes no charge for
inland freight which is paid for by dealer

    TOTAL SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE P.O.E. $16,682.30/ $13,972.30
State & Local taxes (if any) are not included"

Then, typewritten below the printed invoice is a freight
charge of $375.50, for a grand total of $17,057.80 for the retail price.

I also have the letter from the dealer to the bank requesting that the bank "floor" it at the NET price of $13,972.30. The car was delivered to Grand Prix Motors on or about April 23, 1973, and it was sold/delivered on June 29, 1973. The flooring interest for that period was $188.59. The dealer cost (as carried on the invoices and the internal notes and letters that I have indicate that the dealer expense was $14160.89. The car was sold for $16,932.80. I can't tell from the records that I have how the $375.00 freight charge was handled - it might have come out of the dealer's profit.
