I'm just curious. Of those owners, who has kept their first? Was it a first love? A torrid affair? Who wants her back?

I'm offering my fist Ferrari, a Daytona, and something is telling me not to let her go. I would like to have something pretty select ($$$) and was thinking I would put this money as well as some money from a Carrera RS sale towards the new car. I can probably do it and keep the Daytona.

    What's your story?

    Dear Ferraristi,

My first Ferrari was an 80 308 GTSI. many years ago. I wanted that car so bad and for so long. When I got it, I truly savored the moment. It still felt more special than when I bought my current 91 Testarossa. It still felt more special than my also current 10 times more expensive Lamborghini VT Roadster.

I guess the first is truly special. Do I miss my first love...sure....but I've moved on but the memories are still sweet.

My first was a 1981 308. Lousy car, but oh, how I loved driving it, I felt sooo cool! Don't miss that one since it was so slow. But migrated to an 89 328, now, I loved that car. I wish I still had that one. On to the 348, liked it but no real love. Then the 355, now that's a piece of art! Love it. Now sits in semi-retirement as the Gallardo is just too easy and friendly to drive. But, that beautiful 355 is a keeper!

Yes, a great 550. Every time I get a new car, (I now have 6 Ferraries), I am told it will replace my 550. But, she is still my favorite.....

My first Ferrari was a 1972 365GTC/4 which I purchased in 1976 and still own it as of today!! I really do like the car, great car all around, but alas, it's time to let it go.....I've taken up flying, and sometimes got to go...so the C/4 is going..after all these years. But I haven't given up on Ferrari altogether, I still will have 4 others in the "barn".

I owned a '90 black/black tr. It was cherry and had less than 600 miles when I purchased it. I tastefully installed the best sound system I ever heard in it. The car was in perfect shape and after 3 years or a little more, got the hot's for a new car and let it go. Friends of mine still talk about that car. I wish I still owned it.

    A 1986 328GTS in red over tan.
It was such an electrifying experience the first month I drove it, that I've never felt again.
Keeping and loving it for the past 22 years also paid off when I decided to finally acquire a stable mate for it, because I had already bought a Ferrari I had no problem getting on the list to factory order a new 430 spider which I took delivery of in August 08.
Will I sell the 328? NO!
Although the 430 is an exhilarating car to drive it just did not give me the thrill I got the first time I drove the 328.
And who knows maybe in another 22 years I'll be ready to buy another one.

First Ferrari was 246 GT in 73 and surely wish I would have kept it. First car was a 58 Vette and definitely wish I would have kept it . Your crazy if you get rid of your Daytona!

My first was a 1970 246 Dino gt which I spent two years restoring when I first bought it. In fact, I didn't drive it for the first two years I had it because it was in pieces. For about a year, it was my daily driver... the only car I owned.

I kept that car for 15 years and, when it was time for a second refresh, I decided to sell instead of going through the effort over again. So, I found a great buyer who wanted to take it on and both of us came away happy.

Do I miss it? Yes, of course. Am I disappointed I sold it? Not at all. Would I buy another? I don't think so. I like the F430 so much, I get my thrills with airbags, fuel injection, and just incredible power. It would be fun to have another but not as a replacement for the F430.

Classics are certainly fun. But, for driving around in the modern world, they stop becoming fun and start becoming a bit of a pain. Now, if I could afford a 250 California SWB or a 275 GTB, that would be another matter....

Well, I don't qualify to answer this, since I only have one so far, but I have a hard time saying bye to my cars, so something tells me that I already like my 308GTB a LOT~!~ . Anycar that I have or had were achievements for setting goals and working hard for, whatever stage of my life I was at, so its hard to see any go, but thats life. But my 308 ... don't know about that one. ;-)

Ahhh .. so here we have many Ferrari owners . To be frank I have never ever seen a Ferrari . It's very uncommon at my place . Though the conditions are changing yet we are far away from what I am seeing here . I have always imagined how it must be when you get your first Ferrari . But since we have people here with multiple Ferraris why don't you tell us how was the day when you got your Ferrari. What was the feeling when you drove your first Ferrari for the first time. It would be nice if you all could share your experiences.

Obsessed with Ferraris since 1988 .

    +2 here

The next one will be a 355, but I am without a doubt keeping the Mondial. There is only one "first". Besides, being a Mondial I don't have very much money in it, and it's not like selling it would make a huge down payment on any future Ferrari purchaces anyway. I would rather just keep the Mondial and save my money for a few more months than sell it for the 15-20K or so it would bring.

I have always heard that there are 2 basic types of car enthusiasts. "Traders" and "Accumulators". I am definitely the second type. I have only ever sold 2 cars and one motorcycle I owned. I still have the first, second, and third cars I ever owned and will continue to drive and restore them as needed. Now, any future second Ferrari I may own will be a lot more likely to be sold at some point when I am ready to upgrade again. I could pretty easily see selling a 355 towards a Boxer or Stradale or 430 spider one day, but the Mondial, as my FIRST Ferrari, has a strong emotional attachment.

Still have number one, and number two. For now at least. But with this economy going downhill like a run away anchor I feel much like Cpt. Morley of the Fitz in his last words to the Anderson: "we are holding our own".
