For me given, the choices posed: 430 spyder The murci convertible is a "convertible" the way the 550 barchetta is a "convertible". the top isn't easy. what would I really buy: 575 Superamerica.
murci is probably cooler, but the 430 is just so much more user friendly. the top on the murci is just a hassle. think G-Spyder.
The Lambo is a great car, but the top is useless. I doubt if I would get the 430....the Gallardo roadster is the winner.
So you would pick a Gallardo spyder over the Murci spyder? I would still pick the Murci despite the top issues. But over all I would have to go with the F430. Anyone else? Ron
Honestly I love Ferraris, but you just can't compare the two (other than by price). The Murci roadster is hands-down winner in my book. G-Spyder is a more direct comparison to the F430 Spider -- and that'd be a tough call.
Murcielago Roadster. While the 430's looks have grown on me, I still don't feel like it is as attractive as it should be. I think the Murcielago (and 360CS for that matter) are better looking. The looks and the V12 would seal the deal for me.
F430 spider, just as the guys said cuz the 430 is more user friendly and the murci's top is annoying, and 1 more thing, there will be a new engine on the murci soon, so if you got it, you will get even more angry that you paid all this amount and there is a superior murci than yours... .hehehe
430. Not a big fan, but it's still the much better car. No such big performance difference, but 430 is so much more useable.
Murci Roadster no question. Reason? I like the looks more. V12. Performance figures are close enough that I dont really care. I can deal with a PITA top. Its just one of the best looking cars out there to me. Now if I drove them both I might come up with something completely different, but right now its a pretty easy choice for me.
Neither. Gallardo Spyder trumps them both. Excellent top design, and a glass rear window that is operable with the top up or down. I cannot believe that Ferrari still has a plastic rear window on the 430 Spider. And the Murci Roadster top/toupee is just foolish, in my opinion (unless you live in an area that gets very little inclement weather, then I would just leave the top off all the time). Besides that, the G Spyder has 520hp, shorter gearing than previous G's, and comes exceptionally equipped with all the creature comforts (GPS, MP3 player, rear backup camera, etc). The new exhaust on 06 G's is out of this world. And, it is probably the best looking open-top sports car on the market today.
For me gotta be the F430, based on a couple of factors. IMHO the Murci is a poser car whereas the 430 is a proper driver's car - not only does it have the speed, but also the delicacy of handling, etc to be truly enjoyable. Further if you just wanted to pose, why not go for something with more class, such as an Aston Martin DB9 Volante, or even a DB AR1 Zagato which should be available for less money than a new Murci Roadster (also been 1 of 99 cars produced worldwide, the Zagato should hold its value far better than both F430 and Murci)
LOL I have yet to drive the 430 spyder yet but I wouldn't even consider using 360 spyder and performance car in the same sentence. I would go into a rant about how you should put the two cars next to each other to compare the wow factor, looks, and performance. But just the fact that you called a 350k murci roadster a poser car I know it wouldn't stick, and besides I dont want to be the one to break it to you that everything you read in the magazines isn't 100% accurate.
For me coming from my viewpoint it is a poser car - it's more about flash than driving enjoyment. And I base that comment on my own personal definition of driving enjoyment (which, lets be honest is a purely subjective concept) - delicacy and feel are far more important to me than horsepower, being the fastest over a quarter mile, etc. I haven't driven either car (have you? - I'd love to know what you thought), but for me the simple fact that the Murci is 4wd doesn't bode well, nor does its weight. Further, my comments are only based in very small part on what I have read in magazines. Maybe one day I'll tell you exactly what I do for a living, however, lets just say that I am extremely well informed of how the market regards cars at this price point and the type of people likely to buy different models...
well i just drove the Murcie over the weekend and hated it. compared to the 430 it feels like a tug boat. the power is awsome but very uncomfortable car to drive and can not be thrown around like a 430. another thing that draws me away from the murcie is the unpracticality of the top. for me it's the 430 hands down. it is just a enjoyable car to drive.
i have an 05 430 spider. its my first ferrari. either i am having the time of my life driving it, or, thinking about the next time i will take it out. i never drove a murci, but make no mistake, the 430 is fun and very easy to drive. i love the lambo looks - gallardo and murci - and considered getting the gallardo. i think i made the right choice, no regrets.
IMO the Murci is a big stinkin powerful monster that feels like a boat. It goes real fast straight and would make a horrible track car. because of weight. (just as the diablo was). The 430 has surgical precision and feels like a sports car should. The looks department is subjective but the color combinations and angular exterior look too rap starish and scream look at me, I really need the attention. The 430 from the sides, 3/4 rear and rear view are very close to perfection (I prefer the front of the 360 to the 430). Also, from a practical standpoint, the 430 is less costly, and will be worth more in 5 years despite its much lower initial purchase price. I also believe it would be easy to tire of the Murci, whereas the 430 will become a long sought after classic.
