The driveway was made to DOT street specs. I wanted a cement truck to be able to drive on it without ill effects. I had them put down DOT shell #250 (I think thats what it was), an inch of sand, all compressed 98-99 percent, then the pavers. It cost about $18,000, including the walkway and front porch. I had estimates up to 30k but the others did not know the road-building specs. All they knew was driveways. The edges were reinforced with 6" concrete and rebar. The rebar cost nothing as it was left over from the house.

Just because it costs more does not mean it is better.

I actually had an oversized truck come around the cul-de-sac once. It's forwards wheels put 6 - 8 inch deep ruts about 3 feet up into my front yard. They had to come in and fix it. The drive was unaffected!

    Very beautiful driveway indeed.

My question is (forgive me for lack of correct terminology) the "brick style" on the driveway, how much would be to do just that instead of making it DOT spec. Ours is currently just cement (i think, whatever regular driveways are). I would want to take that off, and do the bricks like yours, you think that will be 10-15K?

    Congrad.. its a real beauty..

I dont want to sound rude, but i have to ask...

Did you find it really neccssary to buy your wife a Murci? I mean does she know how to use it to its full potential? And its not a very practical car mind you...

    Wasn't a CLK 500 or a SL or a SC430 a 911 or even like a Aston martin not enough?

i don't think many people that buy these cars buy it for practicality. i've read in a few threads about how people have these cars and couldn't possibly drive it to it's full potential, just look at some of the EF threads, it's in there. if you wanted a practical car i'd say get a porsche, at least it's reliable. i think to really get the full potential out of any modern day exotic you'd have to be a pro driver.

great pics of the murci. i love the color combo too, i've seen the yellow with the two tone black yellow interior, it was too much for me. but yours seems to match with a subtly.

Here is a view of the front trunk. I removed the hinged divider between the upper and lower levels. I think it was to prevent kids from climbing in there. The 2 L Diet Sprite bottle can be seen. Actually it is quite large, bigger than many sports cars but smaller than in the Maranello. That trunk is deceivingly large.

I did feel that I got a good price. Prices here may be less than other areas. Of course paychecks are also less than other areas.
