ok what are the pros and cons of each car? Wich is more reliable? Wich would be a better every day Driver? I know the murci is much faster 0-60 but what about around the curves, being the murci is 4100lbs compared to 3500lbs??

I have the Gallardo & never driven the Murcie. The latter wins on looks, presence & power but the G is definitely more agile around town if you ask me & parking's easier. However, the Murcie is actually not a lot bigger than the G when you put them next to each other.

It just looks overwhelming & not too user friendly but once you own one & drive it, I'm quite sure it can be very civilised.

Both have been very reliable so far at least for mine. There's virtually nothing to look after even after a trackday. Just six months oil change & maybe brakepads etc. That's all.

If $$$ isn't an issue then Murci all the way. V12, Scissor doors, looks better IMO. I have never driven a Murci so I cant compare parking, driving etc....

Either car will be more than adequate for street driving; if you want a good handling car, save $150k and buy a Radical. Both Lambos are equally reliable and can be driving every day although most do not of course since consumables like tires and fuel are expensive as well as most insurance policies on these types of cars not allowing more than a set number of miles per year. I'd make my choice based on personal preference if money is not a deciding factor; I went with the G because I wanted a convertible and a Murci roadster is not realistic here in Florida where an afternoon shower can show up with no notice.

Keep cost a constant and do Diablo versus Gallardo.

I have owned both. I prefer the Gallardo. Yes, the Murci is slightly faster 0-60, but not by much. On a road circuit, the Gallardo will win most of the time (superior handling dynamics, better braking, considerably lighter).

In my opinion, the Gallardo is more of a drivers car than the Murci. Some Murci owners might disagree with me, but I have owned both, and this is just my opinion.

between those 2, Gallardo Spyder. doesn't have the doors but looks better than the Murci imo
Gallardo is very reliable (not that the Murci isn't), one of my friends drives his almost daily during the summer, not as often during bad weather but he still does from time to time even in the snow. So it is very possible to use a Gallardo as a daily driver

Also I hear the Gallardo stock exhaust sounds much better than the Murci.

watch this video, around 0:45 the Gallardo Spyder drives by

    this one, towards the beginning

and this one, towards the end around 1:20

I currently own both: a 2007 Gallardo Spyder and a 2007 LP640. So obviously I don't have the Gallardo coupe, which probably handles a bit differently, but here's a few thoughts between the two I own.

    1. I'm not sure the Gallardo would out-handle the LP, at the track or the open road. Yes, the G is lighter, but the LP has SO much power, it counteracts its weight quite well.

    2. The Spyder is great fun as a daily driver, especially with the top down. It's smaller, with much better visibility (although the LP isn't too bad for a supercar either).

    3. The Gallardo is loud ALL the time! That V10's valves open up even when you lightly press the pedal. You've got to goose the LP a bit to get it to growl (and have the windows down to really hear it). But when you do..... look out!

    4. The doors! LP all the way! It's fun to drive up and synchronize opening the doors... it's always a jaw-dropper.

    5. Same for the retractable air intakes on the side of the LP. They're out all the time when it's above 85F (our first weekend like that was last week), but when it's cool and you're sitting a stoplight with people gawking, manually raise them and what them drool all over the place. Much fun!

    6. Both are surprisingly comfortable. From what I understand, the LP is quite a bit more comfortable than the original Murci. The Kenwood sound system in the LP is actually better than the G's, IMHO. Pop in a DVD-Audio and it sounds fantastic.

My wife drives them more than I do, but if she had to pick just one, it'd be the LP, because she couldn't stand not having the top of the line Lambo!

This is an interesting thread. I see some people referring to popularity, attention, wow factor of the doors, and driving the top-of-the-line car vs. the 2nd in line. I guess for me (as an owner), those things have never really mattered to me. I enjoy the overall driving experience. And I agree with Webby, I think the Gallardo Spyder is the best of the line-up currently. I have one arriving in 2 weeks. But if popularity/attention/etc are your main criteria, the Murcielago is the car for you.

I just got a 2006 Murci Roaster and I love it! Its a very special car in its performance and presence. It am not 100% satisfied with its exhaust tone at low idle, but when you get on it, it sounds like no other car I've ever heard. The Gallardo is a great car and it sound mean all the time, but it does not capture the true Italian design aesthetics in its body work. The Murci must be seen driving on a road or better yet on the freeway. Nothing looks like this car. It is so wide and sleek when its in motion. The Gallardo's body looks too square to me and does not have the sexy curves the Murci has. Both are beautiful cars for sure, but the Murci wins out I feel.

    Interesting thread indeed.

Do you guys think these cars are aimed at different audiences/buyers? I have always wondered that...

Threads like this are like religious debates; if you have the means, test drive them both and buy the one you personally prefer, not the one a bunch of people in an online forum prefer. If you can only afford the cheaper one, then buy it if you prefer it, if not, wait, either way you'll come out ahead of buying one you don't like because other people told you to.

As per item 3 above, for your LP640, have your Lambo dealer prop open the "butterfly valve" that controls the exhaust note. I did that to mine and it's loud all the time. The procedure is reversible if you ever want the stock exhaust note back.

Buy based on what YOU like. Not because someone on a forum told you the Murcie is slower 0-60, and does not do well in the twisties, can't pull 3 lateral G's, torque is not great, F Zonda looks better, CCX has cooler doors, etc, etc, blah, blah....

I would not be drag racing it for purse money, and they don't even have twisties where I live, so who cares. If I wanted track performance I would buy a track car.

I would base it one two things.

    1. Is the car fun to drive?

    2. Do I like the way it looks?

If you answer yes to both of these, then you will be happy with your purchase no matter what anyone says.
