I have a Gallardo and my fiance has a Murcielago. I have driven both and I like the Gallardo better. The Murci IMO is more of an attention grabber and a FASTER car, but the G handles better. Also, the Gallardo is easier to back into parking spaces! ;)

I agree with AMG Girl on all points, but one think I must add is that the Gallardo is the best track car ever.

I don't think the Gallardo was designed anywhere near the style of a Testarossa. In fact, the Gallardo looks 5 times better IMO.

How about the 288 GTO, even the louvers are the same. And the large swooping top of the TestaRossa's side intake? Looks suspicious to me.

Please pass me the medication you are taking :) :)

There are countless cars that use louvers on the engine compartment.. Really the 288 and tesstarossa are completely different cars from themselves and from the gallardo - each wonderful and also aggressive (when they were released). but really no similarities or design ques taken from them to create the other...

Well, the proof's right there, just take a look. All my opinions though (Lambo owners hate it when I do this ;))

Not even close. Put down the Kool Aid.

Your ridiculous hijacking of this thread aside, the Gallardo is a fantastic car, it's definitely not a step down from an M. Just a different flavor.

Drive both, one will "speak" to you more than the other. Message boards can't help you. Good luck.

I've driven the Gallardo for 1 hour and owned the Murcie for 4 months. Gallardo smaller cockpit/interior room but more like a race car. Murcie seems faster better gearing comparing stick to stick. I like the Murcie doors but have always liked that system. The Gallardo is more pinpoint in steering imput and would require less on the track. With the extra horsepower, mistakes on the track could be covered up with the HP. The Murcie is definately a GT car which I really enjoy. Very smooth. Both are great cars, but one will speak to you and then you will know. Be sure to drive both!!

GTO looks like Gallardo? WTF? What're you smoking.

The similarity with the TR is the side vent is a similar shape, same location, and it has that whole wide body fenders deal going on.

I owned a 328gts and a testarossa, and there was a 288gto in the family a long time ago. You aren't a Ferrari nor a Lamborghini man.

I have owned both. First the Murci, then the Gallardo. Here are my thoughts:

    - Murcielago is best suited for open roads, at high speeds
    - Gallardo is suited for all conditions, and feels at home on city streets as well as fast open roads
    - Murcielago gets a sick amount of attention
    - Gallardo gets a slightly-less amount of attention, but still sick
    - Stock for stock, the Gallardo sounds better (stock Murci is quite docile)
    - Handling on the Gallardo is much better
    - Braking on the Gallardo is much better
    - Torque and acceleration on the Murcielago is better, but not by huge amounts
    - Interior amenities in the Gallardo are far ahead of the Murcielago (Nav system, MP3 player, dual zone climate control, garage door openers)
    - The doors on the Murcielago are cool, but I can't say that I would prefer them
    - Gallardo is a better track car (think of it as a blend between the Murcielago, 360 and 911TT)

In my opinion, it boils down to one question:

    - How much do you plan to drive the car?

If the answer is "not much", or "once a week", I'd say the Murcielago may be the ticket for you. If your answer is "as much as I can", or "3-4 times a week", then the Gallardo is the clear choice.

Both awesome cars. Each with different reasons for ownership. At this point in my life for how I drive the car, I prefer the Gallardo.

    Great Comments!!
I'd like to elaborate on a few of them.

I never had the chance to get gas in the Gallardo but the Murcie and Diablo gets 2-3 time the attention of the 360.

I drive all my car a max of 3 times a week.

The Gallardo vs. Murcie vs Diablo sound is this. 01 Diablo OEM is awsome, Murcie is tame but the Tubi fixed that problem, and Gallardo is good.

I can't comment on tracking the cars as I'm over that phase in my life. I decided after racing Formula Atlantics on tracks that included Mid Ohio, Road America, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Sebring, Homestead and others I would be disapointed in all the exotics. This is not a criticism but the track thrill factor just wouldn't be there.

I received a private message wanting some Dibblo comments inserted in this thread.

Comparing the Gallardo, Murcie and Diablo what is my favorite? I comes down to the mood I'm in. If I'm a little tired or occupied with work situations then I'll go for the Murcie. If I'm feeling frisky then the Diablo would work.

For those of you that have ridden the rides at Kings Island here the comparison.
The Murcie is like the Beast (steel modern and smooth and very fast) while the Diablo is like the Racer (wooden a little jerkey but fast and furious).

Even after living with the Murcie for 4 months and Diablo for 15 months, I still don't have a favorite. I'm only glad I replaced the 360 with the Murcie but the two cars shouldn't be compared to each other.

What is the name of the steel tube frame smooth roller coaster? You'll will have to excuse my 51 year old memory as I haven't had to take my kids there for 15 years +/-.

The interior fits me better than the Gallardo. I'm 6'0" and 200 lbs.

crap, I,m 6' too, 6'3" with the hair :) 150-165 depending on time of year
But if you fit in the Diablo no problem I should be cool, and the NSX and Gallardo have just 0.2" differencein height...so I'll survive

The Diablo is a snug fit..I would not want to be 20 lbs heavier or much taller. It makes me feel sorts like my Formula Atlantic cockpit. The Murcie and 360/430 are much more forgiving inside.

If you're going to say that I'm NOT a Ferrari man, you really shouldn't say anything at all. Don't start sh*t like that.
