Here is my dyno clip from today, 579HP, 480 Plus torque, 227MPH, 11.5% fule/air Great sound clip will take a minute or so to down load........ http://www.catsexotics.com/dynotime.avi
Very nice....... albeit a long pull...... where you holding her at a specific RPM for A/F verification before going into WOT....?? Thank you Shadowman
You mentioned in your thread the fuel/air ratio....however I simply stated the same thing in a different manner.... I stated a/f...... regardless she sounded sweet. Take care Shadowman
Not at all; I should have been more clear. The A/F aka Fuel/air ratio .....by my standards is nice and safe........... certainly some would say that it could be trimmed for a bit more HP however maybe at at loss in the torque area..... In any case as I shared..... she does sound very nice....... and looked like a bull being held back looking to be cut loose. Takes care Shadowman
Yes it was a fun day, the same guy dyno my friends GALLARDO yesterday.. He stated it did not come close to the factory HP statement...he came up with 441Hp..I do not know what the torque was or the A/F (learned something new) or what RPM he was at.....
The mods on the car are as follow...... (1) Al Burtoni-Milano imports 4 tip exhaust (2) Al Burtoni MAJOR SERVICE, which included timing, valve adjustment and computer tweeking.......... (3) Use Catro LEAD racing oil....... (4) Use 76 Union 92 Oct Gas........ Car has over 20K on it at this time........ I did not understand the 227MPH, either, this is what the DYNO guy told me....... "Based on these ratios and the three FULL power range tests he did, with the car weight at 4000 pounds....his computer puts the top speed of this car at 227MPH.......... I do know while on the DYNO I saw the speedometer ONLY hit approx 140MPH........ So I am not sure what this top speed means......I myself can verify that I have had the car out on open road and HAVE hit 207MPH........put my understanding is the speedo on my car is off by about 8MPH...so truly probably 199-200MPH.......... But whatever it is the car just sings all day long at 160MPH normal driving...
perhaps he meant the theoretical redline was 227? bc a stock M is getting nowhere near that.... and also, correcting for HP @ the flywheel in this case I assume?
I think I would be a little nervous seeing that thing on the dyno - my mind would imagine it shooting off into the wall!
wot = Wide Open Throttle Holy Crap...you could fly a kite behind that thing with the speed the exhaust was coming out.....
Hi RoyToy, You owe me a new pair of pantaloons. Thanks. P.S. WOT means WithOut Testicles, every one knows that... Example: The man wanted to buy a sports car, however, he was denied. His wife demanded they purchase a mini van for the baby. Suddenly, the man felt WOT.
not sure why they did a 6th gear run: would think 4th or 5th would be closer to the 1:1 ratio that Dynojet specifies for an accurate run. In fact, I've never heard of anyone doing a 6th gear run, except to see where the car would top out at if there were no variables such as drag, rabbits, etc. Though, with a 6th gear dyno, rev's take longer & the car does not appear to be as powerful since everyone's used to 4th gear runs. Also keep in mind: that's HP & Tq measured at the wheels: so, add 15% (at least) to those numbers to find your true HP/TQ ratings: my in-head calculations show the car to be about 640hp. Your buddie's Gallardo: about 515hp or so. BTW: I highly doubt your chip-tuner recommends such a rich mixture on such an efficient, NA motor. My NA Porsche makes the most power at about 13.2:1 air/fuel. Your AF's are more consistent with high HP turbocharged cars. Mark (Porsche Club HCR-Region Dyno & Technical Coordinator, 2005/2006) BTW: I have a great dyno video of my turbocharged Porsche 928 if anyone's interested.
Sorry, could have sworn you mentioned a computer re-flash in your mods. My 928TS runs about 11.8:1 air/fuel because of the turbocharger. I've seen cars in your HP range pick up another 30-40hp at the wheels from leaning out the fuel pressure (via an adustable regulator) carefully to see where it makes peak HP/TQ. I'd bet it would make 600 with a little fuel tuning Good guess by previous poster: were the 579 & 441 numbers given to you "interpolated" from the dyno as your flywheel HP numbers, or is that what was shown to be measured at the wheels? Mark.
Clear up a couple of things........I am not as knowledgeable as all of you are.. so I rely on what I am told....... The test were done in third gear, and yes the numbers were AFTER he made a math calc from the wheel HP giving a engine HP......the 6th gear test was just for the fun like you say to see top speeds, RPM drag ect..was not part of the main tests..... I hope this helps out......... Thwe important thing to me was that LAMBORGHINI states these cars are 580HP from the factory..........so it came as close as I have ever seen..
227 could be entirely correct for the rate at which the wheels were spinning.. it's amazing how fast automobiles can travel when they're unencumbered by that damn wind resistance thing. I'm just trying to figure out why the car was held at that rev for so long.. most of the time you top out the 1:1 gear and back off. That was honestly the longest dyno I've ever seen..
I noticed and made comment about the same thing....... very long........ no worries however. The most important issue Roy already shared; he had a great day...... the results were better than he was expecting ....... and furthermore his gal sounded "SWEET". I think most would agree that it is very cool that he took the time to do it.... and then share the results........... Takes care Shadowman
I agree.... and I am glad that you mentioned it again...... unless tuning at a specific RPM on a load dyno such as a DYNA-PAK I have never seen a WOT pull done like that..... but then who am I to say...... just a different approach. Shadowman
