When Im ready to buy, my exotic is gonna be a Murcie...but to owners I have to ask whats the maintenance like? How long is it usually before you expect problems? Can this car be used as a daily driver (why or why not)? Im sorry for the number of questions, but I love driving and if Im spending 250k+ for a car I want to drive it as much as I would a Honda Civic.

    1500, 7500, 15000 mile maintenance.

You should not expect any serious problems, although minor problems will likely surface and can be corrected at your convenience.

The annoyances with driving it as a daily driver:
    1. poor visibility in the rear. the rear view mirror is literally worthless. you can throw it away and it wont change a thing. side mirrors are very wide which helps a little. I am thinking of putting a camera in the back so i can see behind me.
    2. the turning radius is terrible. you will be making some U-turns as 3 point turns.
    3. the trunk is tiny. you can not take anything with you. this makes a road trip difficult because you have to pack very, very light. so basically dont plan to do much shopping with the car. a F-car, by comparision, has a huge trunk (and F-car trunks are considered among the smallest)

With the roadster you have extra problems (top is a pain in the butt to take on/off, the wind comes into the cabin, ...)

I drive mine three days a week when the weather is nice.

Don't forget that there is just about NO room for anything to be carried inside the car!

Wow, thanks for the reply. I had no idea the turning radius was that bad.. A camera in the back sounds like a great idea. But is the car reliable? How many miles on your murice? What kinds of repairs need to be done? I guess what im getting at is how come all exotics I've seen for sale usually have under 5k miles on them. And 5k is considered "alot" Because im saying if I had a murcie it would have atleast 30k by the end of summer...and whats the harm in that? Again thanks so much for replying, Im learning alot

Also it's just plain silly to drive 580 horses around town. What's the point? A car like that is a toy and should be used sparingly in as little traffic as possible, and on roads deserving to be DRIVEN!

Use the car any way an owner wants. It's his car. Daily driver, weekend toy, showcase piece in a museum. Sometimes the best reason to drive it is simply because you can.

I have 1,000 miles in 6 weeks of ownership. i will put on 5k this year (10k if it was a hard top), probably 3-5k subsequent years. You might need a new clutch ($$) and other similar repairs, but the car is not likely to just break down on you and leave you stranded.

If you put 30k miles on your car in 2 years it is because you either dont have another car or your ego is so big you have to drive a lambo everywhere. it is a great car, and nothing wrong driving it to mcDonalds for s hits and grins, but to drive it everywhere is crazy -- the fun will quickly disappear

As to your question of reliability, i think you could put 50k miles on a Murci if you really wanted to.

You really put things in prespective, how the fun will disappear...because the feeling I want when I drive this car is as if im on vacation far far away, and the feeling wont be there if I drive it everyday...but I gotta admit its gonna be hard not to. I love driving and riding, I dont care what kind of car or bike it is. When I had my R1 I would take senseless rides for a hours looking for nice roads. I guess i'll have to treat the Murcie the same way as the R1.

If you do not abuse the clutch it will last 50 to 75,000 miles. The trouble is that most people abuse these cars. After discussion with engineers from Lamborghini, Ferrari, and MB there is no doubt that the high output car engines are capable of much more use than ordinary cars if they are cared for properly. The trouble is that, again, these cars are rarely cared for appropriately.

"I had no idea the turning radius was that bad." I agree with this however an old Dodge dart has no better a turning radius.

The rearward visibility is not great. However if you drive it as a truck then it is no worse, actually better. My wife has no complaints at this time though it took her 3 - 6 months to get used to it. Now it is a non issue (it is her car).

If you remove the trunk inset the volume is way better than most sports cars. Check out this 2 liter bottle.

My 575 Maranello is 2 years old and has 6,500 miles. My wife's Murcielago is a little over 1 year old and has 3,600 miles. I asked her to trade. She say no way in hell, over my dead body. 'Nuff said.

Your only 22, and are listed as a student/Software Developer/ Entrepreneur, and can afford a Murci? Hopefully you can. Just seems alittle bit of a stretch with those two pieces of info.

As for the daily driver, are you planning on driving the winter months? Also, don't forgot to include insurance and gas in your process. I'm not sure the prices of both, but I am guessing they are pretty high, escp. at 22.

When you actually purchase a Murcie your attitude will change....You may put 1500-3000 miles on the car and then you will realize that the car is'nt the best daily driver. I thought the same and after about 2-3 weeks of almost daily driving the car was used 1-2x weekly. Sitting in rush hour traffic next to a bond'od Pinto with a driver looking for some CD's swerving to close for comfort to and a teenager in a full size pickup snapping pics with a camera phone behind you is'nt the most comforting feeling on earth;)

I never said I could afford it now...but I know I will and this is the exotic i've chosen to buy. Im just trying to learn most I can about this car, and to me the best way is asking questions to those that actually own it. (Which you guys have been very helpful, Thank you!) Im hoping to purchase it by next summer (not saying I will for sure, but im trying really hard to make it happen) Also I wouldn't drive it in winter months, if I stored my Acura its obvious I would store a Lambo. And if im purchasing this car I know keeping it on the road is a fairly large expense and have taken it into consideration. I wouldn't buy this car if I only had $290,000.

But my question to you is why are you being so condescending towards me because im 21? Why is it so impossible for it to happen? If you would like more information about me rather than the "two pieces" in my profile than feel free to PM me your questions. Thanks
