I was told that there is going to be a reduction in the amount of 08 Mercielago Coupes and Roadsters that come to this country. I had heard that about 70 were sent here for 07 but only a handful would come here for 08. Anyone know if this is true?
Also how many Roadsters came to the US in 07? Does anyone know the ratio of coupes to roadsters that come here generally? I assume the Roadster is more rare.

you think thats rare? I was reading earlier this year either in Forbes or Fortune about how the wealth in the US was spread out. It said that Rolls Royce sold something like 55 brand new phantoms in the U.S. last year, I'm sure plenty of used ones traded hands but 55 brand new cars! So 70 Murcielago examples doesn't surprise me. Outside of LA,Miami,NY people don't really have crazy money to spend. I live in the middle of the best part of town and I've only seen 2 Murcie roadsters in Houston and we're the 4th largest city in the country!

There won't be a reduction as there simply won't be any. All 2008 Murcielago's have been spoken for.

As for the number of 2007 Murcielagos here, can't tell you. But you might be able to get a rough estimate concerning that there are 185 US-spec MY05 Murcielago's (From PM of SF's post). In fact, he probably can tell you better than I can. The only thing I know about the 2008's & US-spec cars is that Murcielago #3000 will go the US after Christmas.

When you say the 08 Murcielagos' are all spoken for you must mean that the Dealer body has ordered them for inventory. I would think that they have not all been retail sales at this point. Not all of them anyway. So, in theory, you could go to a dealer who has one coming in and buy it if it were not commited to some one else, right??

Yes, in modern Lamborghini world "spoken for" or "all sold out" is used including the cars that dealerships ordered for inventory. I'm pretty sure you can walk into a dealership right now and order an 08 LP640 roadster or coupe with any options and combinations you want.

The Dealer said the there will be a big price increase in February on all the cars. This is due to the large differential between the Euro and US dollar. Does anyone know if the big increase is true?

That will put a nice lp640 over 400k with tax and freight.

This could be a hard hurdle to cross with the way things are going.

Of course opening my big mouth here will get me "blasted" by the some but this is the info given to me and it makes sense.

I do not have the exact numbers for 2007 and they differ depending on who you talk to. But for 2007 LP640 total was in the neighborhood of 120 cars, with about 30 roadtsers for the USA.

For 2008, the numbers are not so much down as they are "delayed" delivery to the USA. Yes orders have been filled, but the "delay" of filling these orders is in the hope the Euro and Dollar correct themselfs after the first of the year...they "Lamborghini" is loosing money so to speak on a new car to the USA. They can sell the same car in waiting orders in other countrys at a higher margin and in turn due to the limited trickle into the USA, hope to keep the price as high as possible for our market. They cant really "cut-off" the USA Dealers, but you will see the more established Dealers getting theirs first and more of them, the others will probably sufer a bit from the weak dollar. This in turn will keep the cars at MSRP and above IMO.

If you take a look at the current market, the Murcies already out there are holding pretty darn steady and have been actually coming back up a bit, the 02-04 years. The Roadtser 05-06 have also been holding pretty darn steady. Percentage wise these cars have really NOT lost that much compared to their NEW MSRP price at release date.

IMO I think this will continue for the simple fact of supply and demand in ratio with cost. I am having customers questioning why to buy a new 08 or even a new/used 07 for the price, that in a lot of the comparisions are almost 50-65% OVER the used market for pretty much the same car. The BIG advantage to the 08 cars is the longer extended warranty...and of course there will always be someone that pays the money for a new car. I think the current inventory of LP640 cars, both versions is not going to see any downward large drop soon..

But only time will tell and of course what the customer does with his/her money. The longer a car sits with a Dealer/Private Party, the lower the price goes and the faster it moves...when this happens more and more due to the customer spending habit, rather than because it is one of the 1 out 100 ugly ducklings will set the market price corrections.

OK, let the blasting begin LOL LOL

Roy: Nothing to blast there. Very interesting anlysis. So for 08 do you think 120 Murcielago's will also make it over here or will the "slow" delivery mean less cars for 08? Also, what is the effective date of the price increase you mention? I heard it was starting in Feb?? Do you think the Roadster will still do 30 cars in 08? Thanks again for you take on this.

IMO there will be less LP640 cars, of both models comng to the USA...and yes it has been relayed to me by a reliable source that the price increase is for ALL cars delivered AFTER Feb 1, 2008. When you order a car, you place a depsoit, BUT the final price is revealed to you on the MSRP window sheet, WHICH the Dealer gets when the car is delivered...I KNOW of NO new car sold with a guaranteed price prior to Delivery at deposit time (Lamborghini cars that is). You do get an approx cost and what the current list costs are with the options list costs, but it is subject to change.

Roy: You obviously have a great sense of the Lambo market. In your opinion which has the better resale potential. A coupe or a Roadster. How important is the 3 year Warranty of an 08? thanks again.

    , 6 speed,

The 3 year warranty I think is a BIG deal, swings a lot of people over from other brands that already had the 3 year warranty. Plus if you are going to resale, then the balance on a three year warranty carries more weight and money than a car out or just about out of warranty. I have customers that will not own a car the minute the warranty is gone, that is the same day the car is gone.

Coupe is always an easier car to resale, however I have seen the roadsters hold the value a bit more, but you have to wait for the right customer and time..so if you hold the car to long, the extra money in it goes away and equals a coupe sale...for me a coupe is the safe bet...

If I was to get a 08 car...

It would be Impact White, standard black interior with white stitching, no piping, no ceramic wheels, buy the Hemerra wheels in shinny black with the rossa corssa tires...and of course a 6 speed

Thanks for the reply Roy. Why a 6 speed? Just personal preference?

Only 6 speeds coming out are by order only, less than 13% total last year, so if someone wants a 6 speed they will pay for it...and it saves 10K on the e-gear option, plus I am always a 6 speed fan...

Roy: Do you know of any 08 6 speed coupes available right now. Either new or less than 200 miles? Probably not if only 13% come here.

That's going to be very tough to find at this moment. So far, I've found 1 2008 LP640 (according to dealer) that said it had a 6-speed but gave no interior photos. Every other 2008 ad has been E-Gear. I'll do a small search though.
