Don't think that will be the end of the Murcielago, they still need a replacement for the Diablo 6.0 VT! I want to see a Murcielago 7.0 after the SV if thats even what its going to be. It will be awsome it better have a rearwing thats black
Didn't we already see spy photos of this car lapping the Nurburgring a few months ago? I remember a thinly camouflaged Rosso Vik LP640 with bare carbon doors, bonnet and decklid sporting a bare carbon wing and revised/fixed intakes being touted as the Murcielago SV...

hmmmmm more power, lighter weight - all they need to do now is rename it and up the price by a factor or 4 nah that wont work - still not an Enzo rival is it
actually im not an enzo fan i do however respect the fact that its a unique design and fantastically quick this lightweight Murcielago idea is a good one and i welcome it. i do however find it a little odd that Lamborghini may be planning another Murcielago variation so soon - especially when there last one was given a whole new name and all it had extra was a bodykit and warranted a huge price increase. I mean who is going to want a Reventon if a quicker and lighter Murci is coming ????? as is clear Id be happy if the Reventon never happens - but this Murci SL id love to see
Stephan Winkelmann said they are planing to introdouce new model every year, so you can expect few more gallardo and murcie variations until new bull comes into stable. Reventon is also part of this policie, but its price made it look extraordinary. Also, I am a bit confused about this names that different blogs use for new murcie. I think it will be SV, because of the tradition, SL will stay for this and future generations of gallardo.
A RWD Murcie would be great. I think of the Reventon not as a new car but similar to the "Concept S". I am in the advertising industry and Lamborghini actually won with the Reventon. Look at the press that it receives on this site. Remember that there is no such thing as bad press. I know of companies that spent tons of money to make annoying commercials that people hate so that people talk about it. Could be a similar story here?
I think this is true. I've seen an number of stories on the general news ect. that mention the Reventon and of course the price tag. This helps the brand keep the mystique and makes people want to own one someday. If you think the perception does not matter ask yourself why people would pay 80k over what Frerrari themselvs thought the car was worth in the case of the F430 spider. Regarding the SV if it is RWD with more HP, it is something that might get me to buy a new one. Right now it is just hard to justify the 150k extra for a 640 over my Murcielago.
Why? with the little flaps on the back that would only add more weight and I think would look alittle silly with the aircoops. it just needs the wing!.
What would be the point? Superleggera means "Super Light Weight", which is what that Gallardo model became & is now marketed as a track-built Gallardo. This though, isn't. Basically, it's just a RWD Murcielago instead of an AWD. If we see a Murcielago being built for the race-track, I'd be betting on the return of the GT name.
Reven...who???? Oh my, oh my. The Reventon owners must be so jiffed. They payed like twice as much MINIMUM for a SLOWER car.
If I remember correctly the Gallardo SL was orginally suppose to called the Gallardo S but when I first saw it tested thats when I discovered it being called the SL thats all. This hopefully will deliever what everybody was been wanting with Murcielago. I could see atleast two more murcielagos being built before the end of the production some kind of super GT model which could replace the Diablo GT and somekind of 7.0 or 8.0 LP640 to replace the Diablo 6.0. VT. but then again that was the diablo this is the murcielago.
Well think about this how many high performance lambos are going to be running around on public roads vs how many reventions you'll see in your life time. Sure its slower, ugly and expensive but its going something most other cars have and thats exclusitivity you'll probably never see a Revention on public roads. Revention owners have nothing to be ashamed of with this new Murcielago.
From Autocar UK: Lamborghini is rushing to unleash a monstrous, lightweight, rear-drive rocketship supercar late next year, as a last hurrah for Lamborghinis Murcielago. Sources at SantAgata insist the new V12 flagship car will have even more power than the 650bhp Reventón, and will be crushingly fast in a straight line. To be dubbed the SV, Autocar understands that the new two-wheel drive Murcielago will be at least 100kg lighter than the Murcielago LP640s 1660kgs. Aome insiders say the weight savings could amount to as much as 130kg. Losing the front differential and driveshafts will save Lamborghini more than 40kg alone, while lessons learned from the Gallardo Superleggera project will help for a great deal more. The LP640s welded-tube steel chassis is a more difficult proposition to pare down than the aluminium-bodied Gallardo, though, and most of the larger cars body panels are already in carbon fibre. Only its roof and door panels are aluminium. Lambos dieticians will show no murcie Lamborghini sources insist the SV program has followed the Superleggera program by dividing the focus into three areas: the interior, the exterior and the mechanicals. The body and the interior are the obvious parts to deal with first. The latter will become carbonfibre central; the inner door skins, the seat shells and the centre tunnel are all expected to be made from the stuff. The current leather-lined door panel will be replaced by one piece of die-cast carbon with a pull strap for a door handle. That will save around 2kg per door. Lamborghini will strip out the Kenwood multimedia system but, if it follows the Superleggera program, it will happily sell it back to you as an option. The electronic systems to raise and lower the spoiler, air intakes and front end will also go, and Lamborghini is almost certain to offer two carbonfibre rear wings one far wider and more outrageous than the other. Sources insist that the Murcielago SV will receive all-new forged and machined alloy rims, which will save at least 6kg per corner themselves. The saving will be bigger in the rear, because the wheels are larger. The car will come as standard with the E-Gear transmission, both because it saves nearly 2kg and because Lamborghini is worried that life will be busy enough for SV drivers without negotiating the chromed gearshift gate of a manual transmission. There will also be massive weight losses through replacing aluminium structural parts with magnesium (brackets, for example) and any non-stressed component will also be lightened. Powertrain engineers to find another 30 horses So what of the Murcielagos glorious mill? Insiders are saying that as much as 680bhp is possible, along with 516lb ft of torque, from what may be the final iteration of a 6.5-litre V12 that can trace its heritage to the pre-Muira era at Lamborghini. Expect new, lighter exhaust internals to serve the dual purposes of cutting weight and easing back pressure. The Murcielagos traction control software will be heavily tweaked to cope with power being pumped exclusively through the rear wheels. The Murcielago has no skid-control systems. It will also have the fastest shift on a Lamborghini to date; shift times could drop from the current 0.4 seconds to just 0.2. Besides the road cars, Lamborghini could also use the car for homologation for privateer teams already running in the FIA GT championship. Michael Taylor
I used to think SV meant Spinto Veloce anyway here it is : http://up.autotitre.com/forum/up/69cd960464.jpg http://up.autotitre.com/forum/up/911520fb22.jpg
How serious is such a write-up in which they even don't get the door and roof material right... Roof and doors are made from steel! Only the door skin is Aluminium, that's the reason the doors weight 60Kilos each. BTW: Reiter is participating the FIA GT since 3 years with the R-GT... Here is nothing, this is a standard LP640 with the wing they used in the german Sport Auto Supertest. http://up.autotitre.com/forum/up/5d1e4e9748.jpg http://up.autotitre.com/forum/up/b2ac0e72fb.jpg http://up.autotitre.com/forum/up/894335953c.jpg
