Muscle car restoration

Reaching out to my homies to see if anyone can point me in the right direction? I’ve discovered a 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible ‘project’. I don’t know much at all about the muscle car world. Is 1965 a good year? Can anyone point me in the right direction to the recommended/best shops in our area I should consider for taking on the project, it’s at primer stage and parts in boxes, motor done and ready. I know Hot August Nights has been a big event over the decades, so I’m guessing there are hot rod builders/restorers in Reno/Carson Valley? Any leads and guidance greatly appreciated.
