I think you won't find sites where you can download popular music for free wich are not ilegal. Ilegal you find planty of them. Paysites , itunes.com , one4music.de , mp3.com, amazon.com .... _________________ Samy
It's a Russian site, you may want to use a throwaway credit card or a one-use number. Most credit card issuers have those these days.
I use allofmp3.com as well. It is awesome. They may have changed since I purchased credits, but at the time I signed up, the credit card recipient was ChronoPay, which is a European company - not Russian. Things may have changed, but you'd have to look further into it. The best thing about the site though is the fact that you can download actual mp3 files and do whatever you want with them - just like you could if you actually bought a CD. Go figure! Most albums end up approximately $2.00 - or about $0.09 to $0.20 per song. You pay per megabyte that you download. The higher the quality, the greater the cost. I also like the ease of use of the AllOfMp3 Explorer program for previewing songs before you buy and managing your downloads. Really a slick system.
http://www.emusic.com Since 1998 - the first company to launch a digital music subscription service. When I started using emusic in '99, my first 75 downloads were free & I had unlimited downloads for 9.99 a month & stayed with this service for several years. Suckers! Muaahahahaaaaaa! First 25 downloads are free - even if you decide not to stick with it. It caps out now, though: eMusic Basic: $9.99 per month/40 downloads eMusic Plus: $14.99 per month/65 downloads eMusic Premium: $19.99 per month/90 downloads
if you're an audio quality nut (yeah, we are few and far between), the only option is http://www.MusicGiants.com/ . i'm a user there, but it's a pretty shaky operation. their library is quite limited, their software is rather painful to use, and the DRM restrictions are way over the top. and none of that has improved materially since i signed up six months ago. overally a quite disappointing setup, but right now they're the only game in town if you want "all the bits". doody.
I use allofmp3.com. I also use http://www.mp3search.ru/ The advantage of this site is that myself and a group of friends share an ID. We take it in turnms to top it up if the credit runs out. I can look in the history at what they have downloaded and then download it myself for no charge! Another tip with allofmp3.com is that you can top up your credit using the phone-line, so if you are at work you can get free top-ups!
FWIW, I'd recommend those that are using peer-to-peer or similar methods to NOT say anything about it on here. We all know the RIAA bastages are using their unregulated police powers to monitor sites and harass people.
Limewire has been good to me up until recently... No matter what I do, I can't download a copy of Godsmack's Speak... Everytime I try, I get these 15-30 minutes clips of silence... It's pretty annoying...
Signed up for this one. There were only 3 songs I am specifically looking for and it had none of them
http://www.mp3 s h i t s.com **remove the spaces** - Free, web-based, no program downloads. Just doesnt have a vast selection. But then again, it is free. On the Illegal note. MIRC, Just cant beat it. Full albums, in 5 mins or less. Movies in a couple hours. Doesnt get any better than that.
The same thing has happened to me with 3 or 4 songs, it's irritating to say the least, can anyone explain why that happens?
The illegal route: www.mininova.org (torrent), www.thepiratebay.org (torrent), www.packetnews.com (IRC).
Even though you can't technically download the songs, www.pandora.com is pretty awesome to help discover new songs ...
