I'm currently not a Ferrari owner -- yet, so most of this post is purely speculative and it may drastically differ from actual preferences while in a Ferrari.

What type of music do you listen to while driving in your Ferrari? I just don't see somebody busting out some jazz while cruising on the freeway in their F430, although I could be wrong.

To me, it would be this song: Salva Mea by Forever Faithless (can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7cY0YT3G8A)

When the song really starts to pick up around 30 seconds I see myself cruising down a deserted highway late at night with the streetlights passing by like they are nothing.

Obviously some Fcars users would opt to not listen to music at all. Well at least music not written by an artist (the magnificent sound of a Ferraris exhaust).

So what do you guys prefer to listen to?

I took the cheesy, previous-owner-installed 70's stereo and speakers out of my previous 330 2+2, and so far all I've listened to in the 308 (has a nice original dealer-installed Blaupunkt AM/FM + cassette system) is an old "Best of Cat Stevens" cassette to see if the system was working OK.

In both, the car is the soundtrack: For the 330, the big V12 valvetrain and carb sounds, plus the exhaust note (a deep, low growl at lower-to-mid RPM, a shriek at the very high end); in the 308, the subtle high-revving engine and gearbox sounds and the aftermarket Tubi note. (a low pitched growling that quickly becomes a high-pitched howl, as the engine revs very fast)

V8 and V12 Ferraris are symphonic...no need for a stereo. But I don't listen much now while driving the everyday 4Runner. Used to have my regular radio programs and tapes/CD's when driving to and from work.

Though I fancy the sounds behind my head as the "Maranello Concerto".

When I do turn on the stereo, it's invariably classical music. While I'm not generally a fan of opera, listening to an Italian opera while driving the car does seems to be appropriate.

Daniel, the day you become a Ferrari owner, only then, you'll discover what REAL music is all about.

I know I definitely wouldn't be listening to any music, just listening to the high revs of the V8/V12 Baby!!! :D

You know whats funny is since we get diffrent cars from customers all over the US...We have more then once found AC/DC and more Heavy Metal, 80's metal in Ferrari's...and a couple of Jazz CDs...In a Lamborghini once I found 3 Iron Maidien mix cds.....I have never found Dance and trance music or rap...mostly jazz and heavy metal :) Somthing about the sounds of metal and the exhaust!

I'm a new owner of a 308 GTBi, and it's true -- I have no inclination to listen to music in the car. I don't think it's anywhere near the sweetest sounding engine ever, but it makes the right noises to make you not even think of the radio. And driving the car is so involved, you have plenty of more interesting things to direct your attention to.

When a Fioravanti design such as the 308 is standing still, however, I recommend classical guitar music written by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. :)

It would be heresy if an Italian, driving an Italian car, in the home of the Soprano's (NJ) would listen to anything but to the Chairman of the Board - Frank Sinatra!

While I knew there would be some replies containing "exhaust only", I didn't believe it would be 75+%!
