Vale Tina Turner. I enjoyed watching Tina rocking this out at 55 years old when I was a kid.................and I'm sure Greg enjoyed watching the guy in the g-string blowing that sax live at the stadium back in 93!
That was surely mimed, her singing notes continued whenever she moved the mic away and the sax player's final note continued after he took the sax out of his mouth. Would have needed a significant PA setup to get that sound quality live and NRL was too cheap to do it properly.
Watching Phill Rudd on the drums looks like just another boring day in the office for him lol. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Watching the old classics on Youtube this morning I just came across this legend, Cliff Burton of Metallica. Regarded as one of the greatest bass players of all time, even though he lived a very short life. He was Hendrix of bass guitar, would have been amazing to watch him play live back then. Ahead of his time and passed away too soon. His technique and sound was incredible as a 19 year old kid and it would have been good to see what he would have been like today. Watch him smash the **** out of his bass AND his hand in these videos. He was ferocious!
Wow, that's an amazing sound to extract from a Fender Precision. How much time did those guys spend in front of a mirror practising throwing their hair around?
Yep, they would all be suffering with whiplash style neck injuries 40 years later. After Cliff passed away, Jason Newstead joined the band in 1986. He left the band in the year 2000, citing "neck injuries" he sustained from touring and playing with the band for those 14 years. Plus other reasons also...............but having a 10kg bass guitar hanging around your neck/shoulders while headbanging and running around on stage like a mad man wouldn't be good for anyone long term.
Interesting that he's using a pick in that clip. Bass purists would never stoop to playing like a guitarist My youngest son was trained on an upright bass for years before he went to electric. My eldest went from trumpet to electric bass. Guess which one is the better player...
Coming your way big fella, front seat for you?..or "no way get..............................................." https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-12/the-angels-return-mount-isa-am-i-ever-gonna-see-your-face-again/102706442 It'll be a 40 year reunion of the classic retort where it was born...............aparrently. I can still remember it being done at Bryant's Manlyvale in the '70's,perhaps John has selective memory loss.
Yep, poor ol Jason copped A LOT of **** from the other members of Metallica for using a guitar pick to play the bass and plenty of other things after he joined the band when Cliff passed away. He wasn't as naturally talented on the bass like Cliff was, but he brought A LOT of energy to the band and which is what ruined his body also lol. The newest and present day Metallica bassist is Robert Trujillo and he uses his fingers to play the bass. When he auditioned for the band in the year 2000, they couldn't believe his speed and the sound he got from playing with his fingers and they compared him to Cliff. They offered him the job with a $1M sign on bonus lol. And the rest is as they say is history. Definitely know which boy is the better player you have there.
They are awesome man, saw them live for the first time at the Red Centre Nats back in 2016. Really enjoyed the show and it's a shame I will miss them tonight as I am off to work now. The Wife is there with the kids and some friends, so they will have a great time for sure. Darryl Braithwaite played last night also, so it's a big weekend of music here. Luke Combs playing here Sunday night also.................NOT!
Maybe it's a Mandela but I remember it from that fabulous blood house, The Royal Antler, in the late 70’s..
