Thanks for video I like comparing old vs new models. And they give lots of info even though little bit repetitive I would like to see a negative shelby review at this point
My dealer got only one R for 2016MY and that went to a friend who just picked up his Avalanche grey R a few weeks ago. I am first in line for a 2017MY R assuming the dealer will get one R for 2017 which I am confident he will. Just turned in my specs earlier this week, race red with black top (stripe not available for the R in either race red or ruby red but it is available fior the base 350 in either red). For 2017MY, track package is standard for base 350 and tech package was deleted. Raised spoiler is now standard on all 350. The R equipment group (with CF wheels and spoiler, etc...) is same as before and of course I have to add the electronic package to get the AC. Looking at late fall or early spring for delivery...now the wait...
I went to the local dealer yesterday and they have a 350 and a 350 R on the floor next to each other. The sticker on the R (sold) showed $66,495 + "market adjustment" $50k. The sticker on the 350 showed $57,495 + "market adj" of $20k. the salesperson (nice and knowledgeable) young man, told me to disregard those adj. People are making offers. He said one 350 was sold in Jan with $17,5k adjustment, then the second sold in March with a $7,5k adj, so I expect these adjustements to disappear very soon. He cranked the 350 up so I could hear the exhaust note with and without the bypass. sounded great! I am convinced the 350 has everything I need since I wont be tracking the car often. Drive train are identical on both the 350 and on the 350 R, and main differences are in wheels, shocks, and no back seat. overall a very very tempting car. I may very well trade the E55 or the M3 for one of these. cheers.
its an amazing value at list but with the add ons i would go with a gtr over the r and an m4 over the base
The 350 will be selling at sticker soon if you can wait a few months. However, there are not going to be too many R around since a lot of the dealers may not even get one so it will be interesting to see what the price point for the R will be when the 2017 rolls out or if they stop production after 2017.
I bought a gt500 in 2009. It was a 2007 model. The original owner paid 75k on a 50k sticker. I bought it for 37 with 6k miles. As awesome as it is, its still going to depreciate
The audio should be better, but I love the car, so . . . : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOm8S_rE7rY[/ame]
sounds nice but I would say similar to jaguar or amg. still not as good as Porsche. and definitely not as good as Italian
I couldn't disagree with you more regarding Porsche. A run of the mill Mustang GT sounds better than most Porsches, IMO.
talking about ones with sports exhausts or the gt porsches. they sound good. at least as good as this Shelby. and I was on track with one last month and wasn't as good as I expected it to be with flat crank
Let's get one thing straight here: Flat plane crank or not, there will never be an American car that sounds Italian....ever. Now, that in itself is not a bad thing. For two reasons: a) It probably is impossible to out Ferrari, Ferrari b) American muscle is an important sound signature in the enthusiast car universe I'm as big a sound guy as anyone in the car enthusiast culture, and even as much as I prefer Italian the most, I would hate for there to be a world without the American muscle car sound. You have to compare the Shelby GT350 to other American cars, and in that aspect it wins against most. Even then, the pure OHV goodness of the GM LSx and Mopar Hemi is very nice. The Maserati V8 also is a nice hybrid sound that has been pretty impressive since returning to the states in 2002. Porsche 911s will never move the soul sound wise. The Carrera GT is pretty good, but I have some fundamental issues with the V10 sound...
have you heard the Shelby live yet? on track? I did and it sounded like any other American car except little bit louder. I like the Shelby a lot, but its sound is not that big a deal to me
Just signed papers list night on a red /white stripe Non R, Tech-Pack equipped car. Should be picking it up tomorrow. Very excited. It will be joining my 355, and will serve as my fair weather daily.
Awesome and Congrats! Did you get at sticker or below sticker? My R is on order. I will get the first 2017 R that will be allocated to my dealer.
unfortunately, around here, they are still demanding a pretty penny. The stealership was asking 25K OVER sticker!!!! ($83k) I paid no where near that, but still over sticker.
Congrats but too bad you paid over sticker. I've got a ruby red '17 on order for sticker from the dealer I've dealt with for 23 years.
Wow 25k over is quite a lot for a non R. Would you be able to get sticker if you have waited for a 2017?
Do you have any idea when your car will come in? Just out of curiosity do you know how many non R vs. R your dealer will get for 2017? My dealer does not have the 2017 allocation yet but they had 3 non R's (I think) and only 1 R for 2016.
I believe 2017production starts the second week of June. My dealer's GM told me his district Manager approved my order for retail vs stock inventory. Supposedly a retail order will get built quicker than one just for inventory. That being said, hoping for a late August delivery. Also, may dealer sold 2 non R tech packs for 2016, and is supposedly getting 2 Cars including mine for 2017. He is not being allocated any R's.
That's great. So you you wil be getting the first '17 at your dealer. Congrats. Hopefully I will be getting the only R allocated to my dealer for 2017 (assuming they will be allocated one, same as in 2016).
