Agreed, but per Ford it was the '67 they were using as their main "inspiration" for this new generation. I think they missed the mark, but possibly in part because today's cars have to be shorter, have more bumper protection, etc. The days of land yachts and Flash Gordon spaceships are no more. The people who have gotten it right are over at: http://www.uniqueperformance.com/ who are happily reincarnating Eleanors. However when I asked my insurance company if it would cover an, um, "restored" 1967 Ford Mustang with 725hp for $250K, the response was like that of Sarah Connor when the Terminator walked out of the elevator at the beginning of T2 ...
To me Eleanors are the biggest waste of time and effort in all the Mustang world. I start to think like Kare and Marcel do about replica Ferraris. I would rather own and drive a 6 cylinder coupe than an Eleanor.
