So I found this kit on Ebay- for $300 it was a built pocher F-40, whoever built it did not do much of a job, lots of sprues and no paint etc... so I took it apart and started to rebuild it to my standards...

detailed up the engine, real cloth seats, painted carbon fiber etc... did not go the whole trans kit way, may do that in the future, but just thought I'd share some pics...

Wow! $300 for a Pocher F40? What a find! Good luck with the build and keep us posted.

Nice work Tom, those Pocher kits aren't cheap, typically go for $400-500!

I' ve been wanting one for a while, but when I saw this i thought it was too good to be true... but voila! the car was almost totally complete... so having some fun putting it back together.

I dont have time for a full body re spray but will do some touch up and wet sanding ... have to fabricate gas tanks and couple other items thatwere not included in the Pocher model.

Nice! Always wanted to do one of these. Was disappointed in the Testarossa.
Can't believe somebody is asking $2395 for one on the bay.

Wonder what the chances are of Hornby re-releasing the F40 now that Pocher is back in business? Seems like there is still a market for it.

Well done Tom! The Pocher F40 is such a great kit compared to the TR, you did very well with the price considering a kit is still around $750 lately. Post more pics when finished!

    Going to paint it yourself?
Wet sand that old finish first IMO, and test shoot for compatibility in an area like under the fender well first, but a primer and enamel should be fine, light wet sand between each coat, let dry (I let mine dry for up to a week inside an old microwave = dust free) before color coat, with wet sanding I work up to a final 2000 paper
Use something like Tamiya polishing compound to finish & then polish wax coat (Turtle wax works well)

I'll Post some more pics later - been tied up work wise so have not really done much. did some body painting - engine bay area. installed the door mirrors I bought from you.. and fixed my front ( plastic ) spoiler - had to heat it up on my stove and then weight it flat... came out pretty good - not perfect.

going to wire up the tail lights tonight ....

I driled the rotors all my self.

Great work! Always loved that kit. Also always wondered why they included a key & fob that is amazingly out of scale?

Great post, I bought one for the same amount of $$ years ago, built. I have been collecting some transkits throughout the years and plan on finishing it 'right'.

I'll watch your thread with joy.

I used an old air line from the 308 Plenum as the Air box tubes to the turbos...

Came out looking really great Tom, nicely done!

I've got a 1/12 GTE Evo2 version - not Pocher - I'm building up now, can't wait for it to be on the shelf! :)

show some pics along the way....

my car is ok...there are others that are WAY, WAY nicer, but i think for an overall investment of $450 - that's for everything.. its not bad.

One day I would like to strip and repaint, build the internal vents and add carbon decals.. but for now I like it.

the F-40 has become my 2nd most favorite Ferrari after 250 SWB.... and this is as close as I'll ever get to owning one!

Certainly, I'll put up a separate thread, but later once further along :) I've a few Ferrari builds on the bench, but the 1/12 GTE is mostly a scratch build, as no kits came in that size & specification

Came across this photo in my folder, shows the Pocher 1/8 F40 kit pre-assembly! :)
