https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-volkswagen-bus/ My 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 is a Deluxe 15 Window bus that was purchased in 2016 prior to a two-year body-off refurbishment and modification process completed 375 miles ago by Stratton Motor Sports of Winter Park, Florida. The body was repainted in Sea Blue over Cumulus White and new lighting was fitted in addition to fresh seals and a new interior with cherry wood floors. 175 Horse Power comes from a Wright Gearbox 2,180cc flat-four with 44 mm carburetors and is sent through a 4-speed Freeway Flyer transaxle. Additional alterations include Porsche Fuchs wheels, 4-wheel Porsche disc brakes, and more. This Bus is offered at NO RESERVE with a clean Florida title and ends on Tuesday, August 14, 2pm est. Very cool looking. But, no offense, I drove enough of these damn things back in the day, I never want to get into one again.
Feel free to ignore the question, but why buy it, spend 2 years refurbing it, then sell it after 375 miles? Very nice looking, best of luck.
I can understand. Sometimes the restoration is like a hobby -- a quest or something to find interesting to do. After the quest, it's time to move on. Good luck with the sale!
actually, shop built it and I drove it for 2 years and 375 miles. Had more fun looking at it in my warehouse/mancave
Very cool ride ! Hope u get all the $$ u want. The 23 window stock restored ones have fetched $100k plus, these are of course worth less, but still a cool ride and would be hit in Huntington Beach, CA. where I grew up.
I'd say anywhere between $50k and $100k, the price spectrum is very wide on these buses, thus I wanted to capture all prospective buyers with a NO RESERVE auction.
glws BaT has been hit or miss for me but it has been really good advertising and users have stepped up to buy after the auctions have RNM on a couple of my cars
I got close to getting one of these once. I am not really a fan of the mods on yours but I know that is a subjective thing. I guess I am what you would call a stock-nazi. Plenty of guys like me on thesamba.com . Did you try to sell it there?
JVMAX.... watched that auction till the end!!! wow that was KOOL!! 36,500 with 2 minutes to go.. then BAM!!! Congrats!!!
yes, it was a gamble going NO RESERVE, but I thought that was the way to go in order to have the most bidders at the end. Sold for $81,000 plus 5% commission
Luckily, I had 2 bidders that knew what they were bidding on. The rest of the comments and bidders were your typical VW crowd if you know what I mean...
